SQUEEZINGMORE WORKFROM EVERYGALLON

Powering the great WD-45 Tractor isthe dynamic POWER-CRATER en-gine which gives premium fuel per-formance on regular gasoline. Pistonsin the POWER-CRATER engine aredesigned to create an improved tur-bulence of air and fuel on the intakestroke. On compression, this turbu-lence is directed into the center of thecombustion chamber. "Center-fire"combustion permits quick, uniformburning in all directions . . . for greaterhorsepower and fuel economy. POW-ER-CRATER design also retains allthe basic features of long engine life:low engine speed, low rate of pistontravel, uniform cooling with "wet"cylinder liners, full-pressure lubrica-tion, and lightning-fast governor.

The long-time need for farm production isUP. Our U. S. population is growing bymore than 2 million persons a year, whilethe number of productive acres remainsalmost constant. The 1975 population(see graph below) is expected to reach190 million people. To feed them as weeat today will require 10 million morecattle and calves, 20 million more hogs,3N million more sheep, 6 million moremilk cows, and 87 million more layinghens.

Supporting this increase will requireadded production equal to what we nowget from 115 million acres of cropland.

Your Farm Power must save time andmoney now—and equip you for the biggermarkets to come. The dynamic new POW-ER-CRATER engine shown below wasdeveloped to meet this double challenge. In the WD-45 Tractor, this engine willsave you time and help you boost yieldsper acre, now. At the same time, it willassure you the extra power you need foran expanding future.

This remarkable engine provides pre-

mium fuel performance on the regulargasoline you are now using. It is an out-standing product of the advanced engi-neering which has made Allis-Chalmersa leader in many kinds of basic power .. .from farm tractors to giant electricalgeneration and transmission equipment.Typical is the huge transformer picturedon the cover of this booklet next toa carload of WD-45 Tractors. Bothare products of the West Allis Worksof Allis-Chalmers, Wisconsin's largestmanufacturing plant.

FACTS

Early WC and ALL-CROP Harvester WD-45 and Model 66 ALL-CROP Harvester

BACKGROUND FOR BETTER FARM EQUIPMENT

"If we can't build it better, we won'tbuild it.""Machines designed to pay a profiton the family farm."These two basic ideas have madethe Allis-Chalmers Tractor Divi-sion a consistent leader in betterfarm equipment.

Shown on this page are some ofthe outstanding "firsts" which haveblazed the way to better living, better farming, and more profit onmillions of American farms. Thefirst tractor on low-pressure rubbertires, the famous ALL-CROP Har-vester, the WC Tractor, quick-hitchand drive-in mounted implements. . . each in its own time provedthat the way to better performancewas in lighter yet tougher machineswith more work capacity per pound.Today, as in the past, Allis-Chalmers is blazing the trail infarm mechanization—buildingbetter machines designed to pay aprofit on your farm.

This is the first farm tractor everto use low-pressure tires. Albert F.Schroeder of Waukesha, Wis., used itfrom 1932 until 1946. It is now onexhibit at the permanent museum ofthe Wisconsin Historical Society.

Introduced in 1935, the ALL-CROPHarvester is an Allis-Chalmerstradition. It brought home ownershipto the family farm and eliminatedbig crews of men to feed at harvesttime. In addition, it introduceddirect combining of such crops assoybeans, grass and legume seeds. Noother machine has done so muchfor so many.

In 1930 Allis-Chalmers introducedthe UC cultivating tractor with aquick-hitch, drive-in cultivator.Soon a power lift was added to raisethe cultivator at row ends. This isthe predecessor of the modernAllis-Chalmers line of hydraulicallylifted, quickly attached implements.

Only the WD-45 Tractor has POWER-CRATER engine,power-shift rear wheels, two-clutch power control, auto-matic traction booster, 5-way hydraulic system, 4-speedhelical gear transmission, full-width 12-inch rims, starter, battery, lights and other outstanding features—all as stand-ard equipment! No other 3-plow tractor offers the farmerso many advantages . . . so much performance . . . at so lowa dollar investment!

4-Row Planter has short-drop boot for accuracy and hy-draulic lift for fast field work. Over 100 corn, cotton, andbean plates are available. Big fertilizer hoppers have eithergear or gate-type feed.
