TRANSITION EXTREME

Transition Extreme in Aberdeen is becoming one of the most popular places to go for any skate boarding, BMXing or rollerblading junky.

Transition Extreme gets their fund-ing from many sources including Aberdeen City Council, Bank of Scotland, Scottish Enterprise Grampian and Apache North Sea.

The quarter pipes, half pipes and various ramps are popular with younger children as well as stu-dents and older people.

It was a real pleasure to go down there and see people of all ages en-joying the use of the park with their bikes, blades or boards.

It is also surprising to see how tal-ented some of the people are who use the facilities, especially when some are as young as 7 years old.

There is a great viewing are for spectators and parents to watch their kids or friends.

You can also go down simply to enjoy a coffee or have some lunch. You don’t have to be using the park to enjoy their homemade soup and muffins.

In The Energy Cafe they also have a plasma screen showing the ex-treme sports channel and two Inter-net ports to surf the web.

A 2-hour session price is just £5.50 or only £3.50 if you bring your stu-dent card. And don’t worry if you don’t have your own equipment because skateboards can be rented for £4 and BMXs for £5.

You can also make use of the Tran-sitions Extreme climbing wall for £7 for an adul and £4.75 for children and students.

You can also rent all the equipment you will need for climbing for onnly £5.

Transition Extreme is well worth a visit with the family on a rainy day...or any day in fact!

There i also a ‘2 on 2’ indoor street-ball court for anyone interested in playing basketball.

Surf’s Up! In Aberdeen?

Join the crowd and get surfing in the waters of Aberdeen. It may be cold but it’s worth it!

Aberdeen’s water may be cold but once you are surfing the waves you won’t be thinking about how cold it is.

With 3km of beach at your fingertips and plenty of parking spaces there is no excuse not to give it a try.

The water is usually flat during the summer, but it wakes up in the later months of the year and the waves just get better when the winter comes.

Don’t have the equipment you need? Granite Reef in the city centre hires out their boards. Get yourself a good dry suit from there too and head down.

As soon as you get down there and see other surfers in the water you wont be able to resist running towards the water with your surf-board under your arm.

Beginer surfers must be careful though as there are groynes 100 meters apart on the north end of the beach, which can be dangerous during a high tide.
