La storia di SEM ha inizio nel 1972 quando due delle maggiori fab-briche di strumenti musicali di Castelfidardo, Elka e Orla, decidono dicreare una fabbrica di fisarmoniche completamente nuova.Tra le persone coinvolte in questo progetto troviamo: PieroCrucianelli, un diretto discendente di una delle famiglie fondatricidell’industria della fisarmonica italiana, Romolo Breccia, la cuiindustria di voci ha già una reputazione mondiale e NazzarenoPiermaria, un costruttore di fisarmoniche francese, la cui famigliaè originaria di Castelfidardo.I partners decidono che SEM sarebbe stata capace di emulareil successo e la qualità delle originarie fabbriche di fisarmonichedi Castelfidardo.

Nel 1973 la nuova fabbrica di fisarmoniche apre. Misura quasi3000 mq ed è la più grande in Italia. SEM produce per Elka,Hohner, Piermaria e molte altre, le quali si avvalgono tutte dellaricerca, lo sviluppo e le facilitazioni nella produzione che la nuovacompagnia ha da offrire. Per molti anni i prodotti SEM sono pre-sentati a tutte le maggiori esposizioni e fiere mondiali.

Nel 2002 il marchio SEM è lanciato e presentato per la primavolta. Poi, all’inizio del 2003, con una mossa strategica SEM sifonde con un altro costruttore di fisarmoniche, Menghini, produt-tore dei marchi Scandalli e Paolo Soprani.La fusione è un risultato naturale di collaborazioni precedenti trale due compagnie che evidenziavano già sfaccettature comple-mentari in termini di produzione e prodotti.

L’aspirazione principale di SEM rimane quella di produrre stru-menti musicali innovativi, di qualità e competitivi nel prezzo chesoddisfino le necessità e i desideri dei clienti.

The SEM story began in 1972 when two of the most prominent musical instrumentfactories in Castelfidardo, Elka and Orla, decided to create a brand new accordion factory.The people involved in this decision included: Piero Crucianelli, a direct descendant of onethe founding families of the Italian accordion industry, Romolo Breccia, whose Salpa reedfactory already had a world wide reputation and Nazzareno Piermaria, a french accordion buil-der whose family were originally from Castelfidardo.The partners decided that SEM had to be capable of emulating the success and qualityof the original accordion factories of Castelfidardo.

In 1973 the new accordion factory opened. Measuring nearly 3000 sq.meters it was thelargest in Italy. SEM produced for Elka, Hohner, Piermaria and many others, all of whomused the research, development and production facilities that the new company had tooffer. For many years, SEM products were presented at all the worlds’ major musicexhibitions and festivals.

In 2002 the SEM brand was launched and presented forthe first time. Then, at the start of 2003, in a strategic move SEMmerged with another accordion manufacturer, Menghini,producers of the Scandalli and Paolo Soprani brands. The merger was a natural result of previous manufacturingcollaborations between the two companies which evidencedthat they had many complementary facets in terms ofproduction and products.

The continued aim of SEM remains that of producinginnovative, competitively priced, quality instruments thatsatisfy customer needs and desires.
