Instructions on how to access e-resources for the University of Greenwich students.
Citation preview
E-resources at the University of Greenwich The University of Greenwich Library Service subscribes to a wide range of electronic resources including e-books,
e- journals and databases. These are not freely available on the internet; access to these resources is through
LibrarySearch or alternatively the A-Z list of databases.
Where do I find LibrarySearch? Find the link to LibrarySearch in the dedicated LibrarySearch channel on the Library & Computing tab in the
Student Portal.
Click on Go To LibrarySearch to open LibrarySearch, and click Sign in (top right corner). A screen with a blue
background and the Greenwich logo will appear. Enter your normal Greenwich username and password.
Finding Journal Articles To find journal articles on a subject, go to LibrarySearch and enter some key words for your subject (or the
title of the article, if you are looking for a specific article) in the search box and click Search.
From the list of options on the left hand side, select Full Text Online and then Articles. Look through the list,
and if you see an article you’d like to read, click FindIt@Greenwich
This will open up a box giving details of where you can find the article. Click on Go to access it.
If full-text is indicated as available but you are taken instead to a page that requires a log-in, return to the Library
databases page in the e-channel of the Student Portal and click on the specific database that you are trying to
access (in the above example this would be EBSCOhost Academic Search Premier). Search for the item here for
better results.
E-Books E-books are electronic versions of books which can be accessed via the internet in the library, at home or
elsewhere. You can access them at any time without the worry of getting fines. The e-books for the University of
Greenwich can be accessed through LibrarySearch.
After you search, select Full Text Online in the Show Only section of the filters on the left-hand side of the page.
Then under Resource type, select Books (you may need to click More options for this to appear – in this case,
select Include next to Books).LibrarySearch will filter your results to e-books only. Click FindIt@Greenwich and
then click on the link to read them.
It says full-text is available but I can't access it?
First, make sure that you have signed in to LibrarySearch. Some databases require additional log-in details in
order to access full-text. For information about these see http://www.gre.ac.uk/offices/ils/ls/guides/l ibrarysearch
Using LibrarySearch off campus or via Wi-fi
To link to full text material off campus, or via the wireless network, please see our guide on Using
LibrarySearch off campus/via Wi-Fi on your device at libguides.gre.ac.uk/librarysearch
Using the A-Z list of databases
As an alternative to LibrarySearch you can search directly from the A-Z list of Greenwich subscribed e-
resources. The contents of some (not all) of these databases is included in LibrarySearch. See the Directory
of databases on the LibrarySearch home page for what is and is not covered.
Firstly, consult your Subject Guide to find out which Databases are most relevant to your study:
http://campus.medway.ac.uk/study-resources/guides.html
Then log into the Student Portal and select the Library & Computing tab then in the e-Library channel select
the Databases, Journals and e-books link. Select a database to begin searching for journal articles (or e-
books) using key words. Look for help facilities within each database or ask your Subject Librarian for advice
to get the best out of each database.
Where can I get help?
• E-mail us to request help with LibrarySearch or the A-Z databases at Medway: [email protected]
• Find more LibrarySearch help guides at libguides.gre.ac.uk/librarysearch
