Canadian Federal Government departmentsrespond to the heightened focus on effectivecommunications and the security of vital voice,

data, and video communicationsnetworks. Using ADTRANsolutions, departments cansuccessfully upgrade and expandthe functionality of public andprivate communication networks, and plan for rapid restoration ofcommunications in the eventof natural or man-made disasters. An ADTRAN-based solution isone you can count on to improve

performance, reduce costs, and ultimately, improve public service.

ADTRAN equipment has been selectedby many prominent federal governmentdepartments, and is widely deployed by majorservice providers and enterprises worldwide. The company’s long-term commitmentto high-quality and aggressive productdevelopment and engineering result ininnovative, cost-effective solutions forvoice, data, video, and Internet projects.

IP Routing

Internetworking multiple wide and localarea networks is an ongoing, top-prioritymission to ensure data sharing amongdepartments. ADTRAN offers a completeline of IP access routersthat support LAN andWAN connectivity forInternet, public and pri-vate Frame Relay, as wellas leased line networks. These full-featured,low-cost access routersinclude an integral

DSU/CSU, a stateful inspection firewall, option-al DSX port for PBX connectivity and dial backupoptions, and a familiar command line interface.

Internet Security

Securing Internet access has become a criticalproject for many federal departments. ADTRANoffers a series of VPN/Firewall products rangingfrom small, economical remote teleworkerdevices to large central site solutions.

Each product in ADTRAN’s series of internetsecurity solutions includes IPSec VPN tunnel-ing, access policies, stateful inspectionfirewall, cyber assault protection, NetworkAddress Translation (NAT), IP routing, andauthenticated remote user access. The NetVantaVPN Client is a software implemented VPNsolution that also includes a full-featuredfirewall for laptops or personal computerstargeting the mobile workforce. The featurerich NetVanta 2000 Series is a must for depart-ments requiring a VPN/Firewall solution.

Integrated Access

Today’s wide area network typically consistsof separate circuits for voice, data, video andinternet communication, resulting in inefficientand redundant costs.

ADTRAN offers multifunction, modularplatforms that accommodate multipleprotocols and interfaces, collapsing multipleparallel networks into a more streamlinedand less expensive topology. ADTRAN solutions

will consolidate, internetaccess voice, fax, modem, video, local area network(LAN), and legacy datatraffic over a single widearea link, reducing overalltelecommunication expenses.

Videoconferencing

To address an increasing need for remote con-ferencing, distance learning and collaboration,ADTRAN offers the ATLAS Video Switch andISU Series for videoconferencing. The VideoSwitch enables multiple videoconferencingsystems to share WANaccess and bandwidthwhich reduces the need fordedicated circuits and low-ers communications costs. The ATLAS Video Switchis ideal for governmentvideoconferences thatprefer ISDN switched serv-ices, since ATLAS provides dynamic call-by-callswitching over PRI and BRI, and offers a diverseand industry-standard set of interfaces forvideo equipment. Many government depart-ments can use ATLAS and ISUs along withencryption devices to create a highly secured,high-performance videoconferencing network.

T1 Connectivity

T1 and ISDN PRI are the most populartechnologies used today to access the publicswitched network or connecta private network. ADTRANoffers a wide range of T1/PRIconnectivity solutions suitablefor use by any federal agency orsystems integrator to connectPBX/Key Systems or LANs tothe wide area circuit. In fact, many ADTRAN T1 solutions enableusers to share the bandwidthbetween voice and data, reducingoverall costs and improvingbandwidth efficiency.

Wireless

Whether it’s providing connections withina campus, in the field or trying to overcomeobstacles associated with copper-based lines,license-free microwave communicationsystems offer a fast and affordable alternativefor voice and data communications. ADTRANoffers a series of market leading T1, multipleT1, and DS3 point-to-point, license-freewireless solutions.

ADTRAN wireless solutions are currentlyin use in many government applications, including a project to transmit voice/dataacross vast areas of national park land whereland lines do not exist. Departments thatrequire connectivity within the National CapitalRegion can quickly establish temporary oremergency communications without thedelays and costs of copper circuits.

ADTRAN is pleased tooffer a National MasterStanding Offer (NMSO)with the CanadianFederal Government.

The agreement numberis E60EY-010001/002/EY.
