SCHOOL INTEGRATION

PROJECT INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOLSFor more information and to book please email: [email protected]: +44 (0) 333 123 0044 WEB: www.projectinternational.uk.com

The enrollment numbers for our Integration Programmes have increased considerably year on year. They are becoming extremely popular as they are a great opportunity to mix with British students and be thoroughly immersed in a British school environment. The programme enables students to attend a British school and “shadow” a British counterpart through the school day.

WHEN?We offer integration stays at any time during the British Academic Year. Minimum stay is 2 weeks, maximum 7 weeks.

Government run (state) schools in the UK do not finish their school year until mid/late July so the summer is a popular time to participate in these programmes.

We recommend a weekend arrival in the UK so that students can start school on Monday morning.

WHERE?We have several schools in each other following areas:

Devon (Torquay, Exeter)

South Wales (Bridgend)

Guildford

Staffordshire (Stafford)

Lancashire (Blackpool, Preston, Lancaster)

Dorset (Bournemouth, Poole)

WHO?We welcome individuals as well as groups for students aged between 8 and 18 though we strongly suggest that those under 11 years old do not come without a group leader.

ACCOMMODATIONDuring our integration programmes, accommodation is in carefully chosen local families. We have an on the spot local coordinator who inspects the families and is on hand to solve any issues. Breakfast & dinner are taken with the host families, whilst lunch (on weekdays) is taken at school.

THE PROGRAMME Excursions are organised at weekends for groups (of 10 or more) only. Often we can accommodate smaller groups, or even individuals, on excursions if we have bigger groups in the same area.

Group leaders are welcome but please be warned that not all schools allow adults in to school during the day due to British Child Protection Laws

Certificates of participation are presented at the conclusion of the stay.

We can organise arrival & departure transfers as well as London stays at the start or end of the programme.

Students must follow the dress code given to them by the school. This could mean purchasing items of the British school’s uniform.

THE SCHOOL DAY Schools in Britain start the day with Registration. Students then proceed to their classes alongside their buddies.

For lunch the students are either given a lunch allowance or a packed lunch.

After lunch they continue to attend their assigned classes.

School ends around 15.30 hours. Sometimes after school clubs are offered; otherwise students return home to their families.

BOARDING SCHOOL PLACEMENTSProject International acts for over 30 independent (private) schools and place children from overseas in such schools as full time boarders normally with a view to go on to a degree course in a British University.

We can cater for children aged from 10 to 18 years and, as an ex Head of Department in a top British boarding school, our Managing Director is ideally placed to recommend the most suitable school for a particular individual. This is done in consultation with the parents or an agent representing such parents.

Project International can assist the parent, or agent, in one of three ways:

1. Project International, after discussion with the parent or agent, will recommend a school (or schools) and makes the necessary introduction. The agent or parent then deals directly with the school. No charge is made for this service by Project International.

2. As for option 1 above but Project International assists with all paperwork and acts as a local agent prior to entry. A charge is made for this service some of which is refunded if the student proceeds with one of the selected schools.

3. As with option 2 above but Project International can also assist with guardianship, transport at start/end of each term and generally be a point of contact in the UK post entry, providing peace of mind for the parent. A charge is made depending on amount of support required.

GUARDIANSHIP SERVICEWhen attending school in the UK as an overseas student, it is a legal requirement to have a named guardian. This of course can be a friend or relative of the student. However, where this is not the case, a guardianship company is often used.

Project International provide a basic (but wholly sufficient) guardianship service at a very affordable price. Contact Head Office for details

STATE SCHOOL PLACEMENTSWe also offer a large number of government run schools with a minimum commitment of 1 term. The cost is roughly half that of private schools and students live with carefully selected host families near to the school they attend.

Example areas:

Devon

Dorset

Hampshire

South Wales

Sussex

Bristol

Bath

North West

Students from the EU or students living overseas but holding a UK passport can attend a State School Programme for a year or more; those from outside the EU can only attend the State School Programme for maximum 6 months. Guardianship fees are included in the State School Programme fee.

The boarding school integration stays proved highly popular in the 2017/18 academic year and we hope to increase our numbers in the 2018/19 academic year. These stays can (subject to space) be offered throughout the school year though we would point out that most boarding schools finish their school year around late June/early July. These stays are becoming extremely popular and a great opportunity to mix 24 hours a day with British students and be totally immersed in a British school environment.

WHEN?We can offer these Boarding School Integration stays at any time during the British School Academic Year but it is very much subject to availability. Recommended minimum stay is 3 weeks.

For details on UK school holidays in 2017/18 contact PI Head Office. We recommend a weekend arrival in the UK so that students can start school on Monday morning.

WHERE?We can offer these Boarding School Stays in a number of areas in the UK though we are opening up new schools and areas on a regular basis.

Example areas include:

Somerset Devon

Hampshire West Midlands

Shropshire Dorset

Staffordshire Norfolk

Suffolk North Wales WHO?We welcome individuals as well as small groups in both Preparatory (up to 13 years) and Senior (ages 13-18) schools.

ACCOMMODATIONAccommodation is on the school campus within one of the school boarding houses. All meals are taken in school.

During the programme students will be guided through the different university and subject options available in the UK, how the different universities are structured both academically & administratively and what is offered from an extra curricular point of view. The programme will include visits to different universities.

Assistance will be given on how to apply, how to submit a UCAS application, assistance with interview techniques and how to put together a good personal statement. There will be mock interviews and opportunities to get feedback & advice on the whole application process.

In 2019 we will once again be offering UK University Preparation programmes. Students will be asked about the university (or universities) to which they intend to apply, what their predicted exam grades are and what subject(s) they intend to follow.

IN SUMMARY, THE AIM IS FOR STUDENTS WHO ATTEND:

to be clear as to what a UK university offers and how it is structured;

to be clear as to what makes a good personal statement;

to understand good interview techniques;

to be clear how the UCAS application system works;

to have a clearer idea as to which course suits their needs best

Further details on price, availability and schools used can be obtained from Head Office.

YEAR ROUND HOMESTAYSWe offer year round homestay programmes to individuals and groups either combining a study course (more suitable for groups) or merely a cultural stay. In the summer, we can also offer combination courses where students stay in an English family but study at one of our residential schools

MINISTAYSOur ministay centres can be found in Caterham, Twickenham, Bromley, Eastbourne, Brighton, Guildford, Woking and Wells. We have first rate organisers in these centres and can offer excellent, tailer made programmes.

IMMERSION STAYSImmersion stays enable students to live with an English family and spend each day with that family.

They are geared for individuals who wish to have no contact with anyone from their own country during their stay (normally between 2 and 4 weeks.)

Families will totally immerse their guest in their day to day lives. No tuition is involved.

We operate these stays in a number of towns around the UK including Hastings, Stratford-upon-Avon, Gloucester, Torquay & Brighton.

ONE TO ONESThese courses are one of the best ways for students to improve their English. They allow the students live in a family and have one to one tuition, normally with a parent within the family.

Tuition is for between 15 and 25 hours per week. The student spends the rest of the day with their host family, being totally welcomed into every day family life. We offer a number of centres around the UK.

YEAR ROUND RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMMES

Once again we can offer residential courses all year round. We have a centre close to London offering good standard accommodation, spacious classrooms, plenty of onsite outdoor & indoor recreational facilities and decent dining arrangements. The programme can be tailor made to suit any group’s needs – combining English tuition, cultural trips to London, Oxford, Cambridge etc. or even a tailor made sports programme. Central London is less than one hour.
