routes: during 2011, more than 100 Carriers chose to fly from FCO airport making available direct connections to more than 190 destinations. The airport results to be the real Italian link between the domestic and the international markets: approximately 400 daily domestic flights connecting 30 Italian destinations make FCO the perfect airport to ensure the best possible “feeding activity” for long haul flights. In year 2011 Aeroporti di Roma celebrated the 50th anniversary of the “Leonardo da Vinci airport”, a story of ongoing successes confirmed by the recent start-up of A380 daily operation by Emirates as well as the new route to Bahrain operated by Gulf Air. During last year, other new intercontinental routes have been launched from FCO by Alitalia to Beijing and Rio de Janeiro and by China Eastern Airlines to Shanghai. Not to forget the development of Qatar Airways that increased its weekly frequencies up to a double daily flight on Rome FCO – Doha. ADR is constantly focused on traffic development: all carriers interested in adding Rome into their own network will find in our airport the ideal environment where to successfully operate and develop the business. over the first 4 months of 2012 comparing with the same period last year. The airport recorded, in April alone, a 19% growth, the biggest monthly increase in traffic in 5 years, since terminal mp2 opened and transformed mp airport. Together, these two airlines now operate 62 routes out of mp airport compared to the 36 routes operated at the same time last year. During this year, mp airport will be connected to 33 countries and 113 airports. More than 150 direct routes, of which 120 scheduled, are to be operated by 29 carriers.
