When Monitored:

With the ignition on.

Set Condition:

When the Vacuum Pressure Sensor indicates a failure in the Vacuum Booster. After the cold start phase (i.e. 3 min after ignition-on) and if the engine is running above 600 RPM there should be at least -135 mbar (1958 psi) of differential pressure in the vacuum-chamber for boosting the pedal force. If the pressure remains below this value for more than A) 1 sec, if brake is applied, B) 2 min, if brake is not applied, but throttle position is below 30%, C) 10 min, if brake is not applied and throttle position is over 30%, and vehicle speed is over 1 mph (2 km/h), a booster vacuum failure is reported.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR A DTC C0021-BRAKE BOOSTER PERFORMANCE

1. Turn the ignition on.

2. With the scan tool, read and record the DTCs.

3. With the scan tool, read and record Environmental Data to help identify the conditions in which the DTC was set.

4. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.

5. Start the engine.

6. Depress and release the brake pedal.


Does the scan tool display: C0021-BRAKE BOOSTER PERFORMANCE?

Yes

Go to Step 2.

No

Possible Causes PINCHED, CUT OR OPEN VACUUM SUPPLY LINEBRAKE BOOSTERVACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR

NOTE: This DTC must be active for the results of this test to be valid.

Perform the ABS INTERMITTENT CONDITION TEST. Refer to ABS-INTERMITTENT CONDITION TEST.

2. CHECK FOR PINCHED VACUUM SUPPLY LINE

1. Turn the ignition off.

2. Check the vacuum supply line to brake booster for a pinched, cut or open hose.

Were any problems found?

Yes

Repair as necessary.

Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. See ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

No

Go to Step 3.

3. CHECK FOR VACUUM PRESSURE SIGNAL CHANGE


2. Remove the Vacuum Pressure Sensor from the Booster.

3. Connect a vacuum pump to the Vacuum Pressure Sensor.

4. Apply vacuum to the Vacuum Pressure Sensor and watch for signal change.

Is the voltage signal changing on the scan tool as vacuum is being applied?

Yes

Go to Step 4.

No

Replace the Vacuum Pressure Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.


4. CHECK BRAKE BOOSTER CHECK VALVE

1. Remove the Brake Booster Check Valve.

2. Apply vacuum to the booster side of the check valve.

Is the Brake Booster Check Valve holding vacuum?

Yes

Replace the Brake Booster in accordance with the Service Information.

When Monitored:


Set Condition:

When the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor circuit fails the diagnostic test.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR DTC C100A LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT


2. With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.

3. Cycle the ignition switch from off to on.

4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display: C100A LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT?

Yes

Go to Step 2.

No

The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for

a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.


2. CHECK CONNECTOR/TERMINAL FOR DAMAGE


2. Inspect the Anti-Lock Brake Module harness connector, Left Front WSS, and Left Front WSS harness connector.

Is the Left Front WSS or any of the connectors/terminals damaged?

Yes



No

Go to Step 3.

3. CHECK (B9) LEFT FRONT WSS SUPPLY CIRCUIT VOLTAGE

NOTE: Check all terminals for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.

1. Disconnect the Left Front WSS harness connector.


3. Measure the voltage between the (B9) Left Front WSS Supply circuit and ground.

Is the voltage above 10 volts?

Yes

Go to Step 6.

No

Go to Step 4.

4. CHECK (B9) LEFT FRONT WSS SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

1. Disconnect the Anti-Lock Brake Module harness connector.

2. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the (B9) Left Front WSS Supply circuit.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

Repair the (B9) Left Front WSS Supply circuit for a short to ground.


No

5. CHECK (B9) LEFT FRONT WSS SUPPLY CIRCUIT OPEN

1. Connect a jumper wire between ground and the (B9) Left Front WSS Supply circuit in the Anti-Lock Brakes Module harness connector.

2. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the (B9) Left Front WSS Supply circuit.


Yes

Go to Step 6.

No

Repair the (B9) Left Front WSS Supply circuit for an open.

6. CHECK (B8) LEFT FRONT WSS SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE

2. Measure the voltage between the (B8) Left Front WSS Signal circuit and ground.

Is the voltage above one volt?

Yes

Repair the (B8) Left Front WSS Signal circuit for a short to voltage.


No

Go to Step 7.

7. CHECK (B8) LEFT FRONT WSS SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

2. If not done previously, disconnect the Anti-Lock Brake Module harness connector.

3. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the (B8) Left Front WSS Signal circuit.


Yes

Repair the (B8) Left Front WSS Signal circuit for a short to ground.

Go to Step 8.

8. CHECK (B8) LEFT FRONT WSS SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN

1. Connect a jumper wire between ground and the (B8) Left Front WSS Signal circuit in the Anti-Lock Brakes Module harness connector.

2. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the (B8) Left Front WSS Signal circuit.

Go to Step 9.

No

Repair the (B8) Left Front WSS Signal circuit for an open.


9. CHECK (B8) LEFT FRONT WSS SIGNAL CIRCUIT AND (B9) LEFT FRONT WSS SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORT TOGETHER

1. Remove all jumper wires.

2. Measure the resistance between the (B8) Left Front WSS Signal circuit and the (B9) Left Front WSS Supply circuit.

Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?

Yes

Go to Step 10.

No

Repair the (B8) Left Front WSS Signal circuit and the (B9) Left Front WSS Supply circuit for a short together.


10. LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR

1. Replace the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.

2. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. See ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

3. Road test the vehicle over 40 km/h (25 mph).

4. With the scan tool, read ABS DTCs.

Did DTC C100A LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT reset?

Yes

Replace the Anti-Lock Brakes Module in accordance with the Service Information.


No

Test Complete.

C1011-LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL ERRATIC PERFORMANCE




When Monitored:


CAUTION: Make sure brake capability is available before road testing.

NOTE: Vehicle must be driven above 40 km/h (25 mph) for set conditions to be meet.

Set Condition:

When the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) Signal is intermittently missing while vehicle speed is above 40 km/h (25 mph) or erratic wheel speed signal during acceleration or sensed wheel speed is different from other wheels.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR DTC C1011-LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL ERRATIC PERFORMANCE


2. With the scan tool, read and record DTCs.

3. With the scan tool, read and record Environmental data to help identify the conditions in which the DTC was set.

4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.




Does the scan tool display: C1011-LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL ERRATIC PERFORMANCE active?

Possible Causes LEFT FRONT WSS LOOSE - B8, B9 CIRCUITS/CONNECTOR/TERMINAL DAMAGELEFT FRONT TONE WHEEL DAMAGELEFT FRONT WHEEL/ BEARING DAMAGEIMPROPER LEFT FRONT TIRE PRESSURE/MISMATCHED TIRESLEFT FRONT WSSANTI-LOCK BRAKE MODULE


NOTE: If DTC C100A Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit is present it must be repaired before continuing.

CAUTION: Ensure brake capability is available before road testing.

NOTE: Vehicle must be driven above 40 km/h (25 mph) for set conditions to be met.

2. CHECK WHEEL SPEED SENSOR SIGNALS


2. With the scan tool, monitor and graph ALL the WSS speeds and compare graph while an assistant drives the vehicle.

3. Slowly accelerate as straight as possible from a stop to 40 km/h (25 mph).

Is the Left Front WSS speed showing 0 km/h (0 mph) or not matching other wheels or showing erratic behavior?

Yes

Go to Step 3.

No


3. CHECK FOR IMPROPER LEFT FRONT TIRE PRESSURE/MISMATCHED TIRES


2. Check and adjust the Left Front Tire pressure.

3. Check and adjust all other tire pressures.

4. Inspect for mismatched tires on vehicle.

Is the Left Front Tire improperly inflated or mismatched tires on vehicle?

Yes



No

Go to Step 4.

NOTE: If graph shows periodic dropouts pay close attention to the tone wheel.

4. CHECK LEFT FRONT WSS LOOSENESS, INSPECT B8, B9 CIRCUITS/TERMINALS FOR DAMAGE

1. Inspect the Anti-Lock Brake Module harness connector, Left Front WSS, and Left Front WSS harness connector

2. Inspect the Left Front WSS for looseness, excessive corrosion and not properly fastened.

3. Inspect the (B8) Left Front WSS Signal and (B9) Left Front WSS Supply circuits between the Left Front WSS and Anti-Lock Brake Module for damage.

Is the Left Front WSS loose or any of the wiring/connectors/terminals damaged?

Yes



No

Go to Step 5.

5. CHECK LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FOR DAMAGE

1. Remove the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor

2. Inspect the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor face for damage.

Is the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor damaged?

Yes

Replace sensor and hub assembly.


No

Go to Step 6.

6. CHECK LEFT FRONT TONE WHEEL/BEARING FOR DAMAGE

1. Inspect the Left Front Tone Wheel/Bearing for damage, missing teeth, cracks, corrosion or looseness.

Is the Left Front Tone Wheel/Bearing damaged?

NOTE: Check all terminals for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals

NOTE: The Tone Wheel teeth should be perfectly square, not bent, or nicked.

7. CHECK LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING FOR DAMAGE

1. Inspect the Left Front wheel bearing for excessive runout or clearance. Refer to Front Suspension/Front/HUB AND BEARING - Diagnosis and Testing .

Is the Left Front Wheel Bearing Damaged?

Yes



No

Go to Step 8.






Did DTC C1011-LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL ERRATIC PERFORMANCE reset?

Yes



No

Test Complete.

C1014-LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE




When Monitored:


Set Condition:

When the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) Signal reading is different from the readings received from the other WSS's at a vehicle speed above 40 km/h (25 mph). The Anti-Lock Brake Module compares WSS readings from side-to-side on an axle and front-to-rear.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR DTC C1014-LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE

3. Inspect the (B8) Left Front WSS Signal and (B9) Left Front WSS Supply circuits between the Left Front WSS and Anti-Lock Brake Module for damage.

Is the Left Front WSS loose or any of the wiring/connectors/terminals damaged?

Yes



No

Go to Step 5.

5. CHECK LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FOR DAMAGE

1. Remove the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor

2. Inspect the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor face for damage.

Is the Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor damaged?

Yes



No

Go to Step 6.

6. CHECK LEFT FRONT TONE WHEEL/BEARING FOR DAMAGE

1. Inspect the Left Front Tone Wheel/Bearing for damage, missing teeth, cracks, corrosion or looseness.

Does the scan tool display: C1015 RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT?

Yes

Go to Step 2.

No

2. Inspect the Anti-Lock Brake Module harness connector, Right Front WSS, and Right Front WSS harness connector.

Is the Right Front WSS or any of the connectors/terminals damaged?

Yes



No

Go to Step 3.

3. CHECK (B7) RIGHT FRONT WSS 12 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT VOLTAGE

1. Disconnect the Right Front WSS harness connector.


3. Measure the voltage of the (B7) Right Front WSS 12 Volt Supply circuit.

Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?

Yes

Go to Step 6.

No

Go to Step 4.

4. CHECK (B7) RIGHT FRONT WSS 12 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

2. Disconnect the Right Front WSS harness connector.


4. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the (B7) Right Front WSS Supply circuit.


Yes

Repair the (B7) Right Front WSS Supply circuit for a short to ground.

5. CHECK (B7) RIGHT FRONT WSS 12 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Connect a jumper wire between ground and the (B7) Right Front WSS Supply circuit in the Anti-Lock Brakes Module harness connector.

Diagnostic Test

1. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) or ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) DTCS PRESENT

1. With the scan tool, read ECM/PCM Brake DTCs.

Are there any ECM/PCM Brake DTCs present?

Yes


No

Using the schematics as a guide, check the ECM/PCM terminals for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits.


C1082-VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT

When the Anti-Lock Brake Module indicates that the Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal is out of range.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR A DTC C1082-VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT

Does the scan tool display: C1082-VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT?

Yes

Possible Causes TERMINAL/CONNECTOR/WIRING HARNESS DAMAGE(B31) VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND, OR OPEN(B33) VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN(B32) VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND, VOLTAGE, OR OPENVACUUM PRESSURE SENSORANTI-LOCK BRAKE MODULE


NOTE: Attempt to operate the vehicle under conditions similar to which the DTC was set. It may be necessary to test drive the vehicle within the DTC monitoring and set conditions in order for this DTC to set.

2. Check all related wiring for bruised, chafed, pierced, or partially broken wires.

1. Disconnect the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector.

2. Turn ignition on.

3. Using a voltmeter, measure the voltage of (B31) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Supply circuit at the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector.

Is the voltage between 4.75 to 5.2 volts?

Yes

Go to Step 6.

2. Disconnect the Anti-Lock Module harness connector.

3. Measure the resistance of the (B31) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Supply circuit from the Vacuum Pressure Sensor harness connector to the Anti-Lock Brake Module harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

NOTE: Care should be taken to preserve connector seal when backprobing the harness connector.

Is the voltage between.4 of a volt and 4.5 volts?

Yes



No

Go to Step 8.

8. (B32) VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE

Repair the (B32) Vacuum Pressure Sensor Signal circuit for a short to voltage.

Set Condition:

When the Anti-Lock Brake Module indicates that the pressure valve changes in both directions by more then.87 psi (60 mbar) within 30 ms. Three events are required to set this fault with a minimum three brake applies greater the 40 bar (580 psi).

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR A DTC C0183-VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE






6. Depress the brake pedal with moderate apply pressure and then release.


Does the scan tool display: C0183-VACUUM PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE?

Yes

Possible Causes PINCHED, CUT OR OPEN VACUUM SUPPLY LINEVACUUM PRESSURE SENSORBRAKE VACUUM BOOSTERANTI-LOCK BRAKE MODULE

2. CHECK FOR PINCHED VACUUM SUPPLY LINE


2. Check the vacuum supply line to brake booster for a pinched, cut or open hose.


Yes



No

Go to Step 3.

3. CHECK FOR VACUUM PRESSURE SIGNAL CHANGE


2. Remove the Vacuum Pressure Sensor from the Booster.

3. Connect a vacuum pump to the Vacuum Pressure Sensor.

4. Apply vacuum to the Vacuum Pressure Sensor and watch for signal change.

Is the voltage signal changing on the scan tool as vacuum is being applied?

Yes

Go to Step 4.

No

Go to Step 6.

4. CHECK BRAKE BOOSTER CHECK VALVE

1. Remove the Brake Booster Check Valve.

2. Apply vacuum to the booster side of the check valve.

Is the Brake Booster Check Valve holding vacuum?

Yes

No

Replace Brake Booster Check Valve.


5. CHECK BRAKE BOOSTER

1. Reinstall the Brake Booster Check Valve.

2. Apply vacuum to the Brake Booster.

Is the Brake Booster holding vacuum?

Yes

Go to Step 6.

Replace Brake Booster in accordance with the Service Information.

Or, if the monitoring was inhibited by a corresponding diagnostics command.

Set Condition:

If the measured acceleration signal is higher than 0.8 g for longer than the specified detection time.

C1219-STEERING ANGLE SENSOR ERRATIC PERFORMANCE




When Monitored:

Continuous monitoring.

Set Condition:

If the Anti-Lock Brake Module detects that the calculated steering wheel angle and the actual steering angle disagree.

Diagnostic Test

1. PERFORM TEST DRIVE AND VERIFY DTC IS STILL ACTIVE




4. Perform ECU initialization with drive test, and then perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. See ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

Possible Causes VEHICLE DAMAGESTEERING COLUMN / INTERMEDIATE SHAFT DAMAGESTEERING ANGLE SENSOR LOOSECLOCKSPRING (SAS)

5. Test drive the vehicle by driving straight at a velocity between 10 and 25 km/hr (6 and 15 mph.) for 1 minute.

6. Park the vehicle.

7. Turn the steering wheel from stop to stop.


Does this DTC reset?

Yes

Go to Step 2.

No



2. CHECK STEERING ANGLE SENSOR OUTPUT


2. Center the steering wheel.

3. With the scan tool, read the Steering Angle Sensor Position.

Is the Steering Angle Sensor Position within ±15°?

Yes

Go to Step 3.

No

Go to Step 4.

3. INSPECT VEHICLE, STEERING COLUMN, AND INTERMEDIATE SHAFT FOR DAMAGE


2. Inspect the vehicle for damage causing tracking problems.

WARNING: To avoid possible serious or fatal injury, check brake capability is available before road testing.

NOTE: If possible, check vehicle repair history for collision damage. ABS module must be reinitialized after repair.

3. Inspect the steering column and intermediate shaft for damage.


Yes

Repair as necessary and clear offsets by initializing ECU with wheels pointing straight ahead.


No

Go to Step 4.

4. CHECK CLOCKSPRING (SAS) INSTALLATION

1. Verify that the Clockspring (SAS) is properly installed.

Is the Steering Angle Sensor properly installed?

Yes

Replace the Clockspring (SAS) in accordance with the Service Information and clear offsets by initializing ECU with wheels pointing straight ahead.


No



C121A-STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NOT INITIALIZED

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.

NOTE: Proper Clockspring (SAS) installation is crucial for proper operation.

When the Anti-Lock Brake Module detects a low voltage at the Steering Angle Sensor or Steering Angle Sensor failure.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR A DTC C121A-STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NOT INITIALIZED



3. With the scan tool, read and record Freeze Frame information.


5. Test drive the vehicle by turning the vehicle left or right in a curving manner at a velocity between 10 and 25 km/hr (6 and 15 m.p.h.) for 1 minute.


Does the scan tool display: C121A-STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NOT INITIALIZED?

Yes

Go to Step 2.

No


2. CHECK THE TERMINALS/CONNECTORS/WIRING HARNESS FOR DAMAGE

When the Powertrain Control Module indicates, for an extended period of time, that engine management relevant for Automatic Yaw Control/Traction Control System control can not be accomplished.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR A DTC C121C-TORQUE REQUEST SIGNAL DENIED



Possible Causes ANTI-LOCK BRAKE MODULEPOWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE

NOTE: This DTC must be active for the results of this test to be valid and this DTC may set while driving under severe load conditions.

7. With the scan tool, read and record DTCs and monitor ESP Torque Request status.

Does the scan tool display: C121C-TORQUE REQUEST SIGNAL DENIED?

Yes

Go to Step 2.

No


2. CHECK THE POWERTRAIN DTCS

1. With the scan tool, read and record Powertrain DTCs.

Were any Powertrain related DTCs found?

Yes

Repair the Powertrain Diagnostics. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Diagnosis and Testing .

No

Go to Step 3.

3. ESP TORQUE REQUEST SIGNAL

1. Engine started.

2. With the scan tool, read the Allow ESP Torque Request status bit.

Was the Allow ESP Torque Request showing NOT set?

Yes

Replace the Powertrain Module in accordance with the Service Information.

Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Standard Procedure .

No

2. HCU/ECU ISOLATION


2. Separate the ECU from the HCU.


4. With the scan tool, monitor the brake pressure.

Does the scan tool display brake pressure above 218 bar (3162 psi)?

Yes

Replace the HCU in accordance with the Service Information.


No

Replace the ECU in accordance with the Service Information.


C1231-DRIVE TEST: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

During the Drive Test.

Set Condition:

If the Anti-Lock Brakes Module detects implausible Steering Angle Sensor data.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR A DTC C1231 DRIVE TEST: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR




4. Perform ECU initialization with drive test, then perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. See ABS VERIFICATION TEST.

5. NOTE: The drive test requires a 90° turn.



Does the scan tool display: C1231 DRIVE TEST: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR?

Yes

Go to Step 2.

2. VERIFY THAT THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR IS ACTIVE ON THE BUS

1. With the scan tool, select ECU View.

2. Verify that the Steering Angle Sensor is active on the bus.

Is the Steering Angle Sensor active on the bus?

Yes

Go to Step 3.

No

Refer to NO RESPONSE FROM THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (SAS) .

3. CHECK STEERING ANGLE

1. Turn steering wheel so wheels point in a straight ahead position.

2. With scan tool check steering angle.

Is the Steering Angle reading within 15°?

Yes

Go to Step 4.

No

Go to Step 5.

4. CHECK STEERING ANGLE CHANGE


2. With scan tool check steering angle.

3. Rotate steering wheel to the right and the degrees will decrease and rotating steering wheel to the left the degrees will increase.

Did the steering angle change accordingly?

Yes



No

1. With the scan tool, read the Steering Angle Sensor position while rotating the steering wheel to the right and then to the left. The Steering Angle position should decrease when rotating the steering wheel to the right and increase when rotating the steering wheel to the left.

Did the steering angle change accordingly?

1. Perform ABS Verification Test


2. Connect all previously disconnected components and connectors.

3. Ensure all accessories are turned off and the battery is fully charged.

4. Ensure that the ignition is on, with the scan tool, erase all Diagnostic Trouble Codes from All modules. Start the engine and allow it to run for two minutes and fully operate the system that was malfunctioning.

5. Turn the ignition off and wait five seconds. Turn the ignition on and using the scan tool, read DTCs from all modules.

6. If any Diagnostic Trouble Codes are present, return to DTC list and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.

7. If there are no DTCs present after turning ignition on, road test the vehicle for at least five minutes. Perform several anti-lock braking stops.

8. Again, with the scan tool read DTCs. If any DTCs are present, refer to the appropriate Diagnostic

WARNING: Ensure braking capability is available before road testing.

NOTE: If the ABM (Anti-Lock Brake Module), SAS (Steering Angle Sensor), Dynamics Sensor was replaced, or if any mounting problems with SAS or Dynamics Sensor, ABM must be initialized using the scan tool. If not initialized, the ABS indicator will flash continuously with no DTCs. To initialize the ABM and clear offsets have wheels pointing straight ahead and follow the directions on the scan tool. The drive test requires a 90? turn. If the Dynamics Sensor was replaced, test drive the vehicle by turning the vehicle left or right in a curving manner at a velocity between 6 and 15 mph (10 and 25 km/h).

ABS-INTERMITTENT CONDITION TEST




PERFORM ABS INTERMITTENT CONDITION TEST

1. Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that may apply.



4. Visually inspect the related wire harness. Disconnect all the related harness connectors. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, partially broken wires and broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.

5. Wiggle the wires while checking for shorts and open circuits.

6. Perform a voltage drop test on the related circuits between the suspected faulty component and the Anti-Lock Brake Module.

7. Inspect and clean all PCM, ABS, engine, and chassis grounds that are related to the most current DTC.

NOTE: The Sensor Cluster is also known as the Dynamics sensor.

NOTE: If the conditions that set the DTC are not present at this time, the following list may help in identifying an intermittent condition:

WARNING: When the engine is operating, do not stand in direct line with the fan. Do not put your hands near the pulleys, belts, or fan. Do not wear loose clothing. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury or death.

8. If numerous trouble codes were set, use a wire schematic and look for any common ground or supply circuits

9. For any Relay DTCs, actuate the Relay with the scan tool and wiggle the related wire harness to try to interrupt the actuation.

10. Use the scan tool to perform a System Test if one applies to the failing component.

11. A co-pilot, data recorder, and/or lab scope should be used to help diagnose intermittent conditions.

Were any problems found during the above inspections?

Yes

Perform the necessary repairs.
