About us Set in a Georgian Town House, the former home and studio of artist Thelma Hulbert, Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) features an acclaimed programme of contemporary art & craft exhibitions, alongside a permanent collection of Thelma Hulbert’s work. This award-winning public gallery is run by East Devon District Council and is supported by the Arts Council England. THG has been recognised through The Marsh Award for Gallery Education for its exceptional learning programme of workshops and activities for the community. In addition to the galleries are a Learning Room with art & craft materials for children, a shop and a refreshments area and a new Wild Art garden. Access The gallery is fully accessible. Academicians and Associate Members of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts mark the start of their 20th Anniversary celebrations with a winter exhibition at THG.

The exhibition will feature new works and include original paintings, sculpture, limited edition prints and ceramics. All of the work will be for sale and a catalogue will accompany the exhibition.

The South West Academy is a registered charity dedicated to advancing the creation and appreciation of art in the South West region. Baroness Floella Benjamin OBE DL is Patron of the Academy. www.southwestacademy.org.uk

A new programme of workshops and taster sessions in different media will accompany this exhibition.

Present Makers 2019 is selected from open submissions showcasing creative innovation across craft and design including glass, wood, paper, textiles, prints, ceramics, furniture, jewellery and much more. All of the work is for sale.

A leading event in the South West crafts calendar, Present Makers 2019 celebrates the talent of South West-based contemporary crafts people and designer-makers, who.create unique hand-made and locally-designed gifts.

This summer photographer Paul Blakemore and artist Jo Lathwood have been investigating and documenting the cultural, social and geological landscape of East Devon Jurassic coast.

Including sculpture and film, Well trodden wrong ways is an invitation to navigate this remarkable World Heritage Site, unearthing untold stories.

From crumbling rock formations, endangered moths, unusual architecture, and unknown histories, the new commissions question how our choices impact upon us, others and our environment. Accompanying event and learning programme Harvest celebration, 5 October 5 - 8pm
