FIND OUT WHAT THE TMS YOUNG PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM CAN DO FOR YOU In support of its strategic goal to become “the destination soci-ety for young professionals technically, professionally, and socially,” TMS continues its expansion of professional development initiatives and resources specifi cally serving early career professionals in ma-terials science and engineering. In addition to augmenting the In-ternational Scholar Program described in this article, TMS will also be funding 30 Young Leader Professional Development Awards in 2014. (The deadline to apply for both the 2014 TMS/JIM Internation-al Scholar and Young Leader Awards is August 15.) It likewise plans to support an additional Early Career Faculty Fellow Award and

will be sending eight rising professionals to participate in the 2013 Emerging Leaders Alliance Capstone Program. Enhancements to the networking opportunities introduced at TMS technical meetings in the last two years are also in the works for the TMS 2014 Annual Meeting & Exhibition. Any professional, non-student TMS member under the age of 40 can apply to TMS’s various young professional awards, as well as participate in other professional development opportuni-ties. To get started, go to the TMS Young Professionals website at tms.org/youngprofessional.
