PREFACE
This material has been developed with the Learning Resource Management Development System – Schools Division Office of Apayao (LRMDS-SDO Apayao) and has been implemented by
the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) of the Department of Education, Cordillera Administrative Region, Schools Division Office of Apayao, Northern District, Conner Central School.

Ang Unang Pinya Noong unang panahaon, may isang pamilya na
nakikisaka at nakikilabada ang kanilang
ikinabubuhay. Mayroon silang anak na
pinangalanang Pina na kung utusan ay “hindi ko
alam” o “hindi ko Makita” ang lagging sinasabi. Isang
araw, inutusan ng Ina si Pina na kunin ang gunting
ngunit nakatulog siya. Nagalit ang kanyang ina.
Bumangon si Pina na nagdadabog na siyang lalong
ikinagalit ng kanyang ina. Sa galit, nasambit ng Ina
niya “sana dumami ang mata mo Pina upang agad
mong Makita ang lahat ng maiutos sa iyo.”
Sa tindi ng galit ng Ina niya ay lumabas ng bahay
si Pina. Kumidlat ng malakas at kasabay nito biglang
naglaho si Pina. Pagkalipas ng isang araw, hinanap ng
Ina si Pina dahil hindi pa ito bumabalik. Sa
paghahanap ng Ina, napaupo siya sa lugar kung saan
niya huling nakita si Pina. Sa aktong ito napatingin siya
sa isang halaman na parang prutas sa tingin at
mayroong maraming mata. Dito niya naisip na
tawagin ang halaman ng Pina. Di nagtagal ang Pina
ay naging Pinya.
