A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO BREAST IMAGINGNOVEMBER 5–9, 2012

This course is designed for the clinical radiologist who specializes in breast imaging, or who practices general diagnostic radiology including breast imaging. It is intended to provide an overview and update on clinically relevant topics in diagnostic imaging of the breast, including recent developments such as relevant changes in the new 5th edition of BI-RADS.

A practical approach will be emphasized, which will include interactive panel question and discussion sessions, small group workshops with case reviews, and three lectures focusing on breast MR interpretation and biopsy. This course satisfi es the continuing medical education requirement for MQSA in breast imaging.

Earn SAM Credit An opportunity for completion of a Self-Assessment Module will be offered. “Breast MRI” is pending approval by the American Board of Radiology for 1 SAM credit and for meeting the criteria for self-assessment toward the purpose of fulfi lling requirements in the ABR Maintenance of Certifi cation Program. SAM credits are required for radiologists certifi ed since 2002.

At the end of the general breast imaging sessions, the attendee should be able to:1. Apply and utilize BI-RADS categories as appropriate; 2. Develop a skillful and practical approach to performing and interpreting

mammography, breast US and breast MRI;3. Anticipate and resolve potential medicolegal issues relevant to breast imaging.

Featured Attraction:Sunnylands Center at the Annenberg Estatehttp://sunnylands.org

Nicknamed the “Camp David” of the west, Sunnylands was conceived by philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenberg, who commissioned architect Quincy A. Jones of USC to build a contemporary residence on their 200-acre estate in Rancho Mirage.

The bright, open, inviting building that Jones created was then decorated by noted designers Haines and Graber. The Estate has been used as a retreat for world leaders, politicians and foreign dignitaries for over 40 years, and also hosts one of the fi nest private collections of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art.

The Center is open free to the public Thursday through Sunday, and features select artwork and the Gardens. Tours of the home are limited and tickets can only be purchased in advance.
