A portable laboratory kit for rapid diagnonsis of infectious disease
A portable kit has been designed to
facilitate rapid detect ion and identifica- tion of infect ious disease agents in areas
where labora tory services do not normal ly exist. The kit is con ta ined i n a plastic
case (measuriug 47x39x21 cm) and
weighs 13 kg. The equ ipmen t is shock-
protected, and the reagents tempera ture protected by special insu la t ion The
diagnost ic system prov ided in the kit in- elude microscopy, c o u n t e r i m m u n o electro-
phoresis, coagglu t ina t ion , and a c o m p a c t
i ncuba to r water bath. Accessories and supplies to operate the system are also
included. The electrophoret ic e q u i p m e n t can be opera ted on either 110 or 220
vol t AC mains or f rom a 12 volt car
bat tery since the necessary t rans formers and inverters are provided.
