The moral and ethical standards of a society.
With prohibition the government realized they couldn’t regulate public morality.
Installment Buying
Purchasing something over a period of time.
Unregulated Stock
Not subject to any rules
Why were Americans worried about immigration?
They were worried for their jobs that the new immigrants would put people out of work

Moving Assembly Line
A line of factory workers along which a product is assembled passing from one to another until the product is complete.
Flapper
Women who decided to cut their hair, wear short skirts and make up and free themselves of the past. Inspired by the times and the right to vote.
Surplus of Labor
When there are more workers than there are jobs.
Red Scare
A time period in American when people were afraid that Communism would take over our country.
Scopes Trial
A trial between religion and science. It was about the idea of evolution being taught in schools and whether that was right to do or not.
Stock Market Speculation
Buying and selling of stocks for profit (Buy low and sell high)
18th Amendment
The amendment that prohibited the sale and distribution of alcohol.
Immigration Laws
Those laws that limited the amount of people coming into our country from other lands.
Organized Crime
Any group having a structure whose purpose is to make money illegally.
