Female: body length I . 6 - 2. 2 mm, black, with violet and bluish tinge. Antenna dark brown. with scape and pedicellus yellowish to testaceous. Coxa black only the tips pale, legs otherwise yellow or testaceous. with femora fuscous except the distal half.

Head usually collapsed but slightly broader than mesoscutum if undistorted. Frons with median longitudinal line (Fig. 1 ) . POI, about 1. 2 OOL, 001, about 1. 8 OD (Fig. 2 ) . Eyes 1. 5 times as long as broad. Malar space 0. 7 times length of eye. Mouth about 1. 4 times malar space. Antenna (Fig. 3 ) with scape 0. 86 length of eye, about reaching the lower margin of median ocellus; pedicellus plus flagellum slightly greater than breadth of mesoscutum; pedicellus 2. 2-2. 3 times as long as broad, as long as F, ; funicle distinctly stouter than pedicellus, its segments subequal or decreasing very slightly in length. ments slightly shorter, the fourth segment as long as or slightly longer than basitarsus (Fig. 6 ) . Forewing about 2 times or slightly more than twice as long as broad, costal cell shorter than M , its lower surface in the distal part with a single row of setae. SM with 5 dorsal se- tae. M about 3. 5 length of ST, ,ST very thin expanding proximally and gradually, MP rudimentary. Speculum rather small and colsed below (Fig. 4). Hindwing obtuse. Gaster (Fig. 7) long oval, about 1 .4 times as long as the length of head plus thorax combined, pointed , with very fine and transverse reticulation. Ovipositor distinctly protruding about as long as the last tergite, the longest seta of each cercus nearly 1.5 length of next longest , curved.

with a subbasal yellow brown spot. Antenna (Fig. 8) with scape as long as the length of F1 plus Fz combined F1 nearly rounded following 3 segments nearly subequal in length and width; clave not broader than F4, about the length of F3 plus F4, all funicles with long whorled setae, scape with ventral plaque about 0.3 length of scape. Province. Apr. 17 , i994, Fengxia Zhao. Biology: Reared from galls of gallmidge on Ilex cornuta L. This species belongs to the

lycidus group of subgenus Aprostocetus and is very close to Aprostocetus (A. ) boreus (Deluc- chi) but the gaster about 1. 4 times as long as length of head plus thorax combined. Propodeum medially slightly shorter than dorsellum. Mesoscutum with 5 adnotaular setae.
