The implemented solution provides users with the necessary tools to carry out easily and safely, a reliable analysis of historical and integrated information, independently from the I.T. area. The scope of this system involves several areas of the company: Big Corporate Clients, Telephone Commer- cial Strategy, Corporate Marketing and Financial Economics. Several Datamarts were integrated so that users could have access to information that was not available in other systems of the company. For instance, Corporate Clients Datamart, for it allows the analysis of ANTEL's products on their main clients’ invoices. SOLUTION

The implemented solution provides users with the necessary tools to carry out easily and safely, a reliable analysis of historical and integrated information, independently from the I.T. area.

SOLUTION

Tailored to ANTEL’s needs, a Datawarehouse was created on DB2 technology on Linux operative system.- Loading processes were made mainly through Microsoft DTS and DB2 Stored Procedures.- PowerPlay cubes were built on the Datawarehouse and reports on Cognos ReportNet for management analysis, indicators monitoring and transactional reports.- Drawing information from source systems, file transfer, loading processes and cube generation were coordinated by means of Control-M.- The work methodology was acquired at a Business Intelligence advice workshop- Datamarts developments were implemented using several strategies.Technical training on tools and work methodology was given to development groups. Final users were also trained on the tools they needed.

Platform

There are two working environments. Development has two servers:- AIX with DB2 database- Windows 2000 with Client SQL Server- Cognos and Transformer servers

Production also has two servers- Linux with DB2 database- Windows 2000 with Client SQL Server, Cognos (PowerPlay and ReportNet) and Transformer servers- Both servers are directly linkedA safe environment ensuring integration and optimum performance was established by means of standards and work methodologies.30 million registers per month.250 users.18 technicians.
