When did you first become interested in coaching soccer? K- “I’ve always been a player since I could walk, but now that

I’m older, coaching is just an extension of that.” What is difficult about being a coach? K- “It is very frustrating, because most of the time, kids don’t

understand the proper movements, so then have to re teach it to them.”

What is your favorite thing about coaching? K- “ Its rewarding when I help a player become better.” What specific drills do you use to help improve players? K- “A lot of ball handling drills, and a lot of running drills.”

• What do you do to increase teamwork? • K- “ When there are exhausting practices kids get along naturally, and

teams connect on their own.” • What do you so when a player is injured? • K- “ I go on the field and assess the injury to see how severe the injury

is. Depending on that, I determine what will be done.”• How do you psych up your team for a game? • K- “ Just by letting them know what is at stake, and setting goals for the

game.” • Do you keep your team well fit during the off-season? • K- “ Well not enough because they are always out of shape.” • What do you to keep your team fit during the season? • K- “ A lot of running by incorporating it in almost every drill.”

Careers In Sports Medicine

Athletic Trainer- Athletic trainers work with team physicians, exercise physiologists, physical therapists, and coaches in the care and prevention of illness and injuries related to sport and exercise.

Personal Trainer- A personal trainer usually works one on one with an individual and is general role is to develop and supervise specific conditioning programs to increase athletic performance.

Strength and Conditioning Coach- Sports teams in high school, college, and professional levels need strength and conditioning coaches. They train athletes for their agility, strength, endurance, flexibility, and power.

Exercise Physiologist- An exercise physiologist studies the physiological responses resulting from physical activity

Sports Medicine in Relation to Human Anatomy and Physiology

Sports medicine is very closely related to human anatomy and physiology.

There are different divisions of sports medicine that deal with different parts of the human body, when either a player is injured or when they need a physical.
