The Extron CS 1226T is a patented, plenum rated, two-piece speaker system

designed for division-of-labor installations. It consists of the CS 120P ceiling

INTRODUCTION SPECIFICATIONS

The Extron SpeedMount® Ceiling Speaker System is a patented low profile, plenum rated two-piece speaker system designed for division-of-labor installations. The innovative CS 1226T SpeedMount speaker system consists of the CS 120P plenum rated enclosure and a CS 26T two-way speaker cartridge. The CS 120P enclosure installs quickly into 2' x 2' or metric 600 mm x 600 mm suspended ceiling grids. The CS 26T speaker cartridge features a 6.5" (16.5 cm) woofer and a 3/4" (1.9 cm) tweeter in a coaxial design, and can be used in 70/100 volt or 8 ohm operation. The CS 1226T is available as a complete assembly, or the CS 120P and CS 26T can be purchased separately to accommodate division-of-labor installations, with the enclosures installed during rough-in and the speaker cartridges during final installation.

FEATURES

Many conventional ceiling speaker back cans may not be ideal for ceiling space locations with obstructions such as fire sprinkler piping or HVAC ducting. The CS 120P features a shallow 5" profile for installation in areas with shallow clearances above the ceiling.

REMOVABLE SIZING TABS FOR 600 X 600 MM CEILINGS

The CS 120P enclosures are delivered from the factory for installation into US-style 2' x 2' suspended ceiling grids. However, the CS 120P is compatible with metric 600 mm square ceiling grids

as well. All that is necessary is to cut off the sizing tabs at the ends of the enclosure. The CS 120P can therefore be specified for a wide variety of worldwide suspended ceiling standards.

The CS 120P enclosure features an integrated tile bridge that evenly distributes the weight of the enclosure and the CS 26T speaker cartridge on the ceiling grid. This avoids the hardware traditionally needed to support conventional ceiling speakers, and reduces associated labor costs.

INSTALLATION

MODELS ACCESSORIES

During construction rough-in, a CS 120P enclosure is placed into a designated location on the ceiling grid. Speaker cable is passed through the opening of the CS 120P, and then the enclosure is secured to the upper ceiling deck.

The innovative, patented two-piece design of the SpeedMount Ceiling Speaker System greatly simplifies installation of ceiling speakers. Instead of waiting until the final phase of installation, a low-voltage contractor can begin during rough-in by placing a CS 120P enclosure onto the ceiling grid, and running speaker cable through it. This leaves the AV installer with a simple procedure of connecting the CS 26T speaker cartridge to the cable and securing it into the ceiling.

The CS 26T is quickly secured to the CS 120P enclosure and ceiling tile using the four enhanced locking arms. A power tap selector is conveniently located on the front baffle edge.

The CS 1226T can be purchased as a complete system, or as separate components for a division-of-labor installation, so that the enclosures can initially be delivered to a low-voltage contractor, followed later by the speaker cartridges to the AV integrator.

The CS 26T speaker cartridge can be installed as a standalone product in non-plenum ceiling spaces. An optional ceiling mount kit is available to serve as a tile bridge for a suspended ceiling grid installation.

During final construction, an AV installer connects the speaker cable to the CS 26T speaker cartridge, using the included captive screw connector.

The magnetically attached speaker grille quickly snaps into place inside the slim bezel, completing the installation and providing a finishing touch.
