APS Lifestyle, the curators behind the well received 9MCM, is bringing the upscale pop-up marketplace back the third year in a row with an interesting twist

Singapore, 1 May 2014–

Every year, home appliances distributor APS Lifstyle goes the extra mile to source and carefully select quality sui

generis merchants for a weekend of gourmet food, coffee, produces, home wares, fashion and affordable arts. This

year, in lieu with this island’s SG50 Jubilee celebration, APS Lifestyle will be spining off 9MCM: The Jubilee

Marketplace on 20 & 21 June from 11am to 8pm. Located at 9 Muthuraman Chetty Road which is a stone’s throw

away from Robertson Quay, the gallery will be transformed into a temporal marketplace, carving a pop-up for

more than 30 merchants.

Putting down the usual flea market set up, 9MCM hopes to go after a more sophiscated installation where the

participating merchants will take over the gallery space and bring about a set up that creates in-store experience

for the patrons. Selected food merchants will be knitting out dishes at the live kitchen stations, so patrons will get

to watch the chefs at work and have their food served alà minute.

Owning to the spin-off, participating merchants will unveil 50 iconic Jubilee food or retail creations in THE JUBILEE

MARKETPLACE. These Jubilee creations will need to reflect on Singapore’s culture and heritage. Elaine Ong,

spokesperson for 9MCM says“ It’s no mean feat for these merchants to attempt a new creation, much dedication

and effort has been put in and we could only anticipate with excitement for what’s to come.”

Doing their part for the society, 50% of the sale proceeds from these Jubilee creations will be donated to a

designated old age home as an expression of appreciation to the pioneer generation for their contributions to the

nation. With this endeavour, 9MCM: THE JUBILEE MARKETPLACE hopes to instil a purposeful movement, thereby

creating a sense of belonging for both patrons and merchants alike.

Through this two-day marketplace, 9MCM: THE JUBILEE MARKETPLACE is excited to bring to you a weekend of

visual and culinary feasting while celebrating our nation’s 50th as ONE.

Open to the public from 11am to 8pm on 20 & 21 June at APS Lifestyle Gallery, 9 Muthuraman Chetty Road.

Cocktails are spiked with exclusive Yzaguirre Vermouths and

sip. Complete with pieces of YouTiao, these cocktails are a nod

to the humble, everyday kopitiam breakfast that has fuelled the

pioneering spirit of our nation for many generations.

<Sunday Market> whips up

their very own “Singapore

Toast” after the famous

Bangkok Toast. This “Singapore

Toast” spots a thick-slice of

brioche with hearty stuffing of

homemade kaya and cheddar

cheese -- a perfect combina-

tion of sweet and savory.

<Scene Shang>’s range of cushion covers

displays Singapore’s iconic landmarks such as

the Tiong Bahru Estate, Tanjong Pagar

Railway Station and the Cathay Building.

<The General Company> brings in

<Mossingarden> will display creation of

Both headed by local chef Anthony Yeoh, Cocotte is a

rustic French restaurant that works towards sustainability.

Serving hearty traditional dishes with flavours akin to

those from the French countryside, communal dining is

encouraged at Cocotte with its sharing platters.

The Provision Shop is a café which serves a variety of

gourmet comfort food such as hearty sandwiches,

homemade tarts and pastas. Striving to provide its patrons

with real food, ingredients used are thoughtfully selected

MORSELS

Morsels is a cozy food and watering spot conjured by two

chef owners, Bryan & Petrina. welcome to our little oasis on

mayo street here in the outskirts of little india. think pre-war

shophouse, warm wood, garden and home.

They present to you a menu made with love, unpretentious

yet full of flavor. They love to freestyle, hence, the

unconventional menu. inspired by the californian sunshine,

produce is the heart of what do, sourcing for good

ingredients and cooking from scratch is our ethos. some say

our food is a like a jigsaw puzzle, wonderfully pieced

together.

SUNDAY MARKET

Not just another hip café looking to elbow its way into the

bubble trend, the core philosophy of Sunday Market is to

take inspirations from local roots and redefine them with

their own touch. They have big ambitions which makes

them challenge themselves culturally and gastronomically.

They try to defy the status quo on different levels –

providing dishes that are out of the ordinary. Because they

know nothing exhilarates your mood like a good dining

experience.

TWO MEN BAGEL HOUSEChef Jerome equipped with culinary experience self-taught

himself to bake with the help of an experienced mentor

who was baker based in London for the last 20 years.

Jerome and partner Jereborne spent over a year to

perfect the recipe of a good chewy, slightly sweet, airy

and crispy when toasted. A bagel not as dense as the

ones in New York but definitely suited for the local palate.

Together with a best and great team of enthusiastic crew,

Two Men hopes to spread their love of bagels in this Sunny

island Singapore. Two men bagels are hand rolled and

baked fresh daily on site.

THE REFINERY

Part casual dining restaurant, part mixology bar and part

designer workspace, The Refinery brings a pool of talented

individuals from the fields of culinary, mixology, craftsman-

ship and design together into a 3-storey complex.

They aim to redefine casual dining and social drinking, as

well as to defunct the notion that good food and quality

drinks must be expensive. It's all about honest food cooked

with refined techniques, and classic drinks mixed with a little

twist. And to top it all off, we house a community of aspiring

craftsmen and designers who yearn to create new

amazing goods and services for everyone.

THE LAB

Their Slogan is " We Experiment" where they like to invent

and create quirky food and beverage items.

Their mocktails and coolers consists of ingredients like fresh

fruits, spices and herbs; mixing with sparkling soda coolers,

Infused Tea Coolers and even Detox Water options. Their

coffee beans from Dutch Colony churns out various blends

in their Coffee Grinders.


TWO BAKERS

Two Bakers is an artisanal bakery café that serves

bespoke French American pastries lovingly handcrafted by

two in-house Le Cordon Bleu Paris trained chef, Kristl and

Erica. Together they have created numerous best-sellers

including deliciously moist Carrot cake, dainty éclairs and

decadent Le Chocolat noir, a beautifully glazed mousse

cake. In addition, the café also offers speciality coffee and

comforting savoury fare that is good for the soul.

PROJECT ACAI

Singapore’s first dedicated açaí superfood café. They're

proud to be serving Sambazon organic açaí, which grows
