PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING!

LOCATION: All Summer Arts classes are held at the Emporia Arts Center at 815

Commercial Street.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE: The Emporia Arts Center CANNOT be responsible

for a child’s care before or after a class. Please drop off and pick up your child

promptly. You or an adult designated by you will be asked to sign your child in and

out before leaving the area. Children under the age of 10 must be picked up from

their specific classroom.

CLASS FEES: Payment is required at time of enrollment. Art supplies for all classes

are included in class fees, unless indicated in the class description.

ENROLLMENT: Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. EAC cannot

“hold” space in a class without payment in advance.

Confirmations are not sent. Assume that you are enrolled in the class for which you

registered. We will contact you in the event that the class is full or cancelled.

Refunds are given only when a class is full or is cancelled by EAC.

MAKE-UP: If a class meeting is cancelled by EAC, a make-up class will be

scheduled. If a student is unable to attend a class, EAC is not responsible for

providing a make-up. Class fees are not pro-rated for classes misses by students or

for late enrollments.

SCHOLARSHIP: EAC has a very generous scholarship fund available for students

bottle piggy banks for all of their saved pennies.

Bubble wrap is so much fun to pop, and even more fun to paint with! Using bubble

wrap, students will create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece filled with unique textures and

patterns.

Make colorful paintings using… a salad spinner! Students will create unique designs

using primary colors and will learn how layering colors can change the end result.

paint brush? In this fun class, students will explore the differences between humans

and dinosaurs, and create a painting using the same imagined techniques as our

Have you ever wondered what you would look like with curly, pink hair? Or maybe

straight and blue is more your style? In this fun class, students will use paper bags to

try out a variety of looks!

CHINESE DRAGON DRUMS




All percussionists to the stage! In this class, students will create a functional replica of

a Chinese Drum. It’s the perfect project for the musically-inclined, with energy to

spare!

MONSTER FEET




Is there a little monster in your family? They will love creating these tissue-box

monster feet to wear around the house!

ROCK BAND




Channel your inner rock star in this fun class! Students will get the choice of creating

and decorating several different musical instruments. Drumming enthusiast? Aspiring

Come one, come all! Using our imaginations, we will make the sights and sounds of

the circus come alive here at the Arts Center! Students will create circus-inspired art

MURAL TO MUSIC




We all know that children love to move to music! While listening to their favorite

tunes, children will move around a table creating individual brush strokes on a

collaborative painting.

IF I WERE AN ANIMAL




Do you wish you could swim like a dolphin and fly like a bird? Maybe you’d rather

jump like a grasshopper and run like a cheetah? Imaginations run wild in this fun

drawing class, as the students are the subject and the possibilities are endless!

MELTED CRAYON PAINTING




Vibrant melted crayons will be the focus of this class! Students will make “cool” art

using this “hot” technique, and will be impressed by how beautiful their projects turn

Be prepared for lots of hammering! Students will learn basic metalworking techniques

by embossing lines, patterns, colors, and textures into a soft metal.

POINTILLISM PAINTING

After an introduction to the pointillism technique used by artist Georges Seurat,

students will create a beautiful painting using this “dot” technique.

own unique flower pots in this fun class. Afterward, they can plant some seeds and

Drawing is fundamental! Students will explore a variety of drawing techniques using:

colored pencils, watercolor, tempera and acrylic paints, and charcoal. Drawing skills
