Pengertian Merupakan usaha untuk mengurangi iritabilitas ataupun agitasi dengan pemberian obat-obatan/agen sedasi.

Penggunaan

•  Bedah : vasektomi, bedah minor, bedah rekonstruksi gigi, bedah kosmetik, pencabutan gigi.

•  Non-Bedah : ICU, intubasi endotrakeal, prosedur endoskopi

Teknik �  Intravena : pemberian obat atau agen sedatif

melalui jalur/akses pembuluh darah

�  Inhalasi : pemberian obat atau agen sedatif melalui jalur/akses jalan nafas

�  Enteral : pemberian obat atau agen sedatif melalui jalur/akses oral

�  Anal : pemberian obat atau agen sedatif melalui jalur/akses anal.

Resiko �  Obstruksi jalan nafas

�  Apneu à gagal nafas

�  Hipotensi

�  Cardiac arrest

�  Pemanjangan efek (prolong sedation)

Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale

Skala Sedasi (ASA) �  Minimal Sedation - Normal response to verbal

stimuli.

�  Moderate Sedation - Purposeful response to verbal/tactile stimulation. (This is usually referred to as "conscious sedation")

�  Deep Sedation - Purposeful response to repeated or painful stimulation.

�  General Anesthesia - Unarousable even with painful stimulus.

Conscious Sedation Dalam Ilmu Kedokteran Gigi

Teknik penggunaan obat atau agen yang menimbulkan kondisi depresi susunan saraf pusat yang reversibel, tetapi selama periode sedasi kontak verbal dengan pasien tetap terjaga.
