Fries, 92, of Mooresville, died Sun- day, Aug. 21, 2005 at his home. Born May 6, 1913 in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Channing Hilliard and Mittie Brigitte Poole Fries. He was educated in the Rowan County Schools and graduat- ed from Woodleaf High School. Mr. Fries worked at Cascade Mills as a weaver, loomfixer and preventive- maintenance supervisor and retired from Burlington In- dustries in 1971. A lifelong far- mer, he was also a radio/tele- vision repair technician and owned and operated Ray Fries TV Service. Mr. Fries grew up in the Mt. Tabor Methodist Church in Rowan County. After moving to the Prospect Community in 1940, he joined Prospect Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon, elder, treasurer, trus- tee, clerk of the session and choir member. He was Past Master of Mooresville Mason- ic Lodge, No. 496, A.F. and A.M. Mr. Fries was married for 68 years to Libby Brown Fries, who preceded him in death. Four brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Timothy Ray Fries; a daugh- ter, Janielle Watkins; a brother, C.H. Fries; two granddaugh- ters, Lisa Fries Montgomery and Holly Fries Lipson; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Prospect Presbyterian Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Born Feb. 1, 1938, in Brad- shaw, W.Va., he was a son of the late Edward Russell Peve- ler, Sr. and Edith Kennedy Peveler. He was former gener- al manager of PGI. Prior to his employment at PGI, Mr. Pe- veler was general manager of Burlington Industries for 25 years. An artist, he was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Peveler was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah “Lorraine” Lowe Peveler. Survivors include his chil- dren, Lisa P. Miller of Char- lotte, Nancy P. Strickland of Kernersville, Russ Peveler and Stephanie King, both of Mooresville, Frank Peveler of Durham and Lorri P. He was born May 9, 1920 in Iredell County, a son of the late Wallace and Lottie Hon- eycutt Barnette. He retired from McKnight Pontiac Buick where he worked as a me- chanic for 28 years. Mr. Bar- nette served in the U.S. Army’s 101st Artillery Division during World War II. He was a member of McKendree Cha- pel United Methodist Church. Mr. Barnette was married to Louise Armstrong Bar- nette, who preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1993. A son, Wayne Barnette, who died in Vietnam in 1967, a brother, Andrew Barnette, a sister, Vessie Black and a great- granddaughter, Samantha, also preceded him in death. Survivors include three children, Ronnie Barnette and Tommy Barnette, both of Mooresville, and Jerry Bar- nette of Catawba; one sister, Annie “Anne” Stutts of Sher- rills Ford; eight grandchil- dren, Tammy Clodfelter, Ricky Barnette, Renee Mc- Kenzie, Scott Barnette, Chris Barnette, Sue Anne Kelly, Ca- sey Barnette and Robbie Bar- nette and nine great-grand- children. Carolyn Temple September 17, 1943 August 18, 2005 Carolyn Virginia Dellinger Temple, 61, of Huntersville, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005 at Presbyterian Hospital. She was born Sept. 17, 1943 in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late Beverly Ashby and Mary Virginia Barker Dellin- ger. Mrs. Temple was an active member of Fairfield United Methodist Church in Denver where she had been the organist since she was ten years old. A graduate of Rock Springs High School, she was a receptionist at the law firm of Karro, Sellers and Langston in Charlotte. Mrs. Temple was married to Kenneth “Ken” Raye Tem- ple Sr., who survives. In addition to her hus- band, survivors include sons, Kenneth “Kent” Raye Temple Jr. of Mooresville and Kirk Ashby Temple of Charlotte; stepdaughter, Tonya Craig of Rock Hill; brother, Stanley A. Dellinger of Denver; sister, Kaye Parham of Seneca, S.C.; grandsons, Kenneth “KT” Raye Temple III, Hunter Dean Temple and Frederick Ashby Temple; stepgrandsons, Wil- liam and Robbie Craig; nieces and nephews. Genevie Hopkins July 28, 1916 August 19, 2005 Genevie Matheny Hop- kins, 89, of Davidson, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Born July 28, 1916 in Clarksburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late William and Delma Yates Matheny, Mrs. Hopkins was an elementary school teacher. She was an active member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church, and in 2003 was named an Honorary Lifetime Member of Presby- terian Women of the Church. Mrs. Hopkins was awarded the Algeron Sydney Sullivan Award by Davidson College in 1984 and the 10-year Facili- tator Award by Alzheimer Association in 1997. She was active in community service for 47 years including Hot Lunch and Meals on Wheels at the Ada Jenkins Com- munity Center. Survivors include a son, John Thomas Hopkins of Charlotte; daughters, Mary Matin of Davidson, Linda Farkas of Paeonian, Va. and Gail Huffman of Titusville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Da- vidson College Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Harry was a member of Bethel Pres- byterian Church, was a grad- uate of Limestone College and also studied at Columbia University. She taught for 30 years at W.R. Odell, J.M. Alexander Junior High and Ranson Junior High. Mrs. Harry was married to Don Harry, who preceded her in death. Survivors include sons, Dr. Robert Harry of Fredericks- burg, Va., Ben Harry of Austin, Texas and George Harry of Cary; daughter, Donna H. Mrs. Stallings was preced- ed in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” William Stal- lings and sisters, Margaret Elizabeth Caskey and Ger- trude Louise Clark. She is survived by her nephew, Pressley Edward Mullinax, of Simi Valley, Calif.; niece, Renee Clark Sharpe of Troutman; a great-niece; a great-nephew; and a number of cousins. Raymond “Ray” C. Fries,92, of Mooresville, died Sun-day, Aug. 21, 2005 at his home.

Born July 28, 1916 inClarksburg, W.Va., a daughterof the late William and DelmaYates Matheny, Mrs. Hopkinswas an elementary schoolteacher. She was an activemember of Davidson CollegePresbyterian Church, and in2003 was named an HonoraryLifetime Member of Presby-terian Women of the Church.Mrs. Hopkins was awardedthe Algeron Sydney SullivanAward by Davidson College in1984 and the 10-year Facili-tator Award by AlzheimerAssociation in 1997. She wasactive in community servicefor 47 years including HotLunch and Meals on Wheelsat the Ada Jenkins Com-munity Center.

Mrs. Harry was married toDon Harry, who preceded herin death.
