95-ME3

Amatrol’s 95-ME3 Mechanical Drives 3 Learning System adds to either the 950-ME1 or 950-ME1-SB Mechanical Drives 1 Learning Systems to teach bearings and gears used in heavy duty mechanical transmission systems. Students will learn industry-relevant skills including how to:

operate, install, analyze performance, maintain, troubleshoot, and select bearings and gears.

The model 95-ME3 includes plain bearings, tapered roller bearings, ball bearings, spindle drive shafts, bearing removal tools, bearing heater system,

miter gears, helical gears, several type of bearing locknuts, safety wire, bearing lubrication systems, angular contact bearings, multiple types of

bearing seals, bearing and seal housings, bearing identifi cation pack-age, gearbox, and gaskets; student learning materials for both theory

and lab, and teacher’s guide. This system uses industrial quality components to help assure that students are better prepared for what they will encounter on the job and to withstand frequent student use.

Many components are conveniently stored on panels with silk-screened outlines that attach to the 950-ME1 Workstation, enabling students to quickly locate and return them to their stored locations. Other components are stored in the industrial-quality tool storage cabinet located at one end of the 950-ME1’s workstation.

Wide Range of Components - The 95-ME3 provides an extensive range of bearings and seals to prepare students for the varied types of bearing sys-

tems they will encounter on the job. The 95-ME3 includes plain bearings, ball bearings, tapered roller bearings, thrust, and angular contact bear-ings as well as a many types of seals including: o-ring, lip, gaskets, and mechanical. Students will also learn how various applications use specifi c mounting methods including direct, indi-rect, tandem, face-to-face, duplex, back-to-back, fi xed, and fl oating.

Installation Techniques - Students will learn how to bearings and seal installation/ removal techniques using man-drels, arbor presses, bearing pullers, lubrication, and bearing heaters. Students will assemble bearing systems using safety wire, seal retainers, 3 types of locknuts, end plates, shims, spacers, and cup followers.

Component Identifi cation and Selection - Amatrol’s 95-ME3 teaches how bearings are speci-fi ed and how to identify bearings using a number of methods, enabling them to properly replace bearings. Students will also learn how to select bearings for spe-cifi c applications.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting - The 95-ME3 teaches how to troubleshoot bearing prob-

lems and maintain sys-tems. Students will be presented with various troubleshooting exer-cises. They will also apply their bearing and seal knowledge to a real world system: a gearbox. The gear-box will be completely disassembled and then reassembled and adjusted. Adjustment techniques such as dying the gears will be used.
