Named after Loch Inver in Scotland Inverloch’s popularity as a holiday and retirement destination has boomed during recent times.Situated on Anderson Inlet which opens out to the waters of Bass Strait water activities never cease - surfers, wind and kite surfers, water skiers, scuba divers, fishermen, yachts from the South Gippsland Yacht Club whose multi coloured sails can be seen from the many vantage points around town.Anderson Inlet is amazingly shallow and has often been described as probably the most dynamic estuary in Victoria. At low tide, its sandy bottom is exposed providing a veritable banquet for the many species of water birds.The town is well serviced by a modern, licensed, supermarket, many specialty shops, two top class hotels both have excellent family menus, a variety of cafes and take-aways and a fine selection of restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets including the RACV Resort on Inverloch-Cape Paterson Road which is open to the general public as is Manna Gum Restaurant at the Broadbeach Resort. Vela 9 in A’Beckett Street is also a very popular Inverloch eatery.

Inverloch’s BeachesAccessible beach from the Esplanade through to Cape Paterson. The main family surf beach is opposite Goroke street on Surf Parade patrolled during main holiday periods.
The Bunurong Marine and Coastal Park: 17 kilometres of striking rock formations, attractive sandy coves, rugged sandstone cliffs and prominent headlands. Flat Rocks: Opposite the RACV Resort. A rock hoppers delight at low tide and the site of the Inverloch dinosaur digs. Also great surf fishing on the tides. The walk from Flat Rocks to Norman Bay is popular at low tide.Smugglers Caves: Water washed sandy floored caverns, accessible at low tide, flooded at high tide (make sure you are aware of tide changes).Eagles Nest: The most recognised landmark in the area - resembles the top half of the map of Australia. Great views of Bass Strait.Shack Bay: Has a boardwalk down to the clean, sandy beach. Great picnic spot.Surfing: Very popular along the Bunurong see map for locations.

Anderson InletTakes its name from Samuel Anderson who settled on the nearby Bass River in 1835.
Rainbow Park Opposite the shops in Ramsay Boulevard has free electric BBQs and modern children’s play equipment. Nothing like a picnic in the park on Balmy summer evenings.The Glades: Opposite the Inlet hotel is also very popular with groups & families. Ramsay Boulevard: Covered BBQ area with picnic tables enjoy spectacular ocean views as you enjoy your barbecue.
Point SmytheThe other side of the inlet reached by boat or drive around through Venus Bay 27kms from Inverloch. Excellent walking tracks. Pick up local map at store.
Fishing InfoTides Guides available at Rod Bending in Williams Street. Fishing Licenses available from the Mobil Petrol Station.Boat Ramps: There are 4 launching facilities for Anderson Inlet.Inverloch Ramp: Larger boats are advised to enter from the Esplanade (charges apply).Mahers Landing: Good access but you need a person to hold the boat whilst parking the car. Fisherman’s Jetty Venus Bay: Boats to 14’ can comfortably access the inlet.Tarwin River: Best 4 hrs either side of the tide. Very popular water skiing and fishing area.
TAB with Sky Chanel is in the Sports Bar at Esplanade Hotel corner A’Beckett and Ramsay Boulevard. The Inlet Hotel also has Pub TAB with Sky Channel.

Tarwin Lower Venus Bay 24kms from Inverloch Tarwin Lower township is nestled on the banks of the gently flowing, tidal Tarwin River which winds its way around to join Anderson Inlet which in turn opens out to Bass Strait. Lunch at the Historic Hotel then explore Venus Bay 6 kms further on. Great fishing from the 20kms of unspoilt, sandy beach. Be careful if swimming on unpatrolled beaches.
