Turn leſt at the wooden gate into a field and walk directly across, with the pond on the leſt. e footpath goes down steep steps to the road, cross the road and down a further set of steep wooden steps. Follow the line of a wooded slope to a gate, crossing two undulating fields. At the footbridge, cross the brook and bear leſt around the Harden Vineyard, following the footpath signs. e narrow footpath (which is deeply tracked and muddy in winter) follows up through a wooded area, turn right towards the large oak trees on the leſt hand side of a meadow. Follow the boundary, keeping the fence line on the leſt and the vines on the right, through a gate, cross a field passing a barn on the right and down the slope to a wooden kissing gate at the top of a narrow path. Follow the wide grass track down to a private lane (Salmans Farm) and turn leſt. is tarmac lane leads onto a cinder track, passing a cluster of houses on the right and a large mill pond on the leſt. e lane should be followed up the hill until a collection of farm cottages and barns at Watstock Farm. Turn right at the fork and take the track down to meet the tarmac lane, bearing leſt until emerging onto the road opposite Penshurst Place. Turn right at the road and walk through Penshurst village, bearing leſt at the T-junction in the centre of the village. (ere are some public toilets in a small building set off the road on the right hand side) Pass Leicester Square on the leſt, through which the churchyard is entered between a group of old half-timbered cottages, the entrance to Penshurst Place, and cross the two bridges over the river. Halfway up Rogues Hill, opposite the entrance to Elliott’s Farm Enterprise Centre, turn right at the footpath sign, passing through a metal gate. Follow this track until it emerges onto open fields, keeping to the leſt boundary, with the slope going up to Swaylands School. Continue until a metal field gate and follow the boundary down the side of the field as far as a metal footbridge. Cross the footbridge, again following the boundary to the leſt hand side of the field until a second metal gate at the end of a track. Bear right at the track following between two hedges and through the farmyard. Follow the track until immediately before a cottage on the leſt, and turn leſt directly up the side of the field to where the track emerges on the road (B2188). Take care crossing the road and go up some steep wood steps to emerge into a meadow. Bear right straight up the steep hill. At the top there are fine views across the valley and over the Medway. Pass through a wooden gate, and come out onto the road at the side of Chapel House. Turn right onto the road, passing e Spotted Dog on your right, and at the junction, bear leſt into Nunnery Lane.
