4220 Series Cabinets
Signal Integrity
The best cabinet choice now . ..for high performance down the road.
Flexibility at every turn .
The one thing that you can count on in
your network is change. Do your
current cabinets provide the flexibility
to accommodate repeated changes
in your network, or do they box-in
future growth with limited configuration capa-
bilities?
3 M™ 4220
Series Cabinets
feature a unique
modular design that
enables you to build
the termination
system you need now
and in the future.
One cabinet design
accepts 3M™ 4500,
Self-Strip, Modular
Hardwire and MS2 ™
Quick-Connect Systems. Even better, you can com-
bine electronics and fiber optics with any of
the four styles of cross-connect systems in the
same housing.
Easy accessibility cutsinstallation and main-tenance time.
All 3M 4220 cabinets pro-
vide easy access to all interior
parts for faster installation and
cost-efficient, piece-part
r e p l a c e m e n t .
The cabinets: removable
skirts and backs, split cable
ports and drop-down interior
frames simplify cable installation
for both field spliced and
pre-connectorized block assem-
blies. The design of the c a b i n e t
also speeds maintenance t a s k s
by allowing for placement over
existing cables.
Your on-ramp to the information superh i g h w a y.
With custom frames, the 4220™ Series Cabinets accept repeaters
and carrier configurations. You can customize the cabinets to
accept any copper, coax and fiber optic configuration combination.
3M 4220 cabinets allow you to
meet tomorrow’s demands, no matter
which turn your network takes.
Easily expandable to meet the demands of higher network traffic.
The 4220 cabinets house from 300 to 5,400 pairs with ample space for splicing. When addi-
tional capacity is necessary, your craftsperson can simply install additional frames.
With 3M 4220 cabinets, you save money with reduced inventory requirements and capital
investment costs, save time with simplified installation and maintenance procedures, and
increase system reliability with proven termination systems.
Get more mileage out of your cabinets with 3Mdurability and re l i a b i l i t y.
The 4220 cabinets' heavy gauge construction and sealed, lockable
doors deliver protection against extreme conditions and
u n a u t h o r i z e d e n t r y. Weather stripping and ventilation flow protect
interior hardware from dust, snow, rain and condensation.
Acabinet-to-base isolation system
resists moisture, rodent and insect
attacks through the base eliminating
the need for pea gravel. It all adds
up to years of durable and reliable
trouble-free service.

Self-Strip Block System
The 3M™ 4320
Self-Strip Block
S y s t e m ’s combination of
fast jumper running and
field-proven reliability
makes it the top choice in
blocks. Each binding post
automatically strips and
trims each jumper. You get
a gas-tight, moisture-resis-
tant connection with just a
q u a r t e r-turn of a screw-
d r i v e r. Each block is fac-
tory terminated with 48"
(122 cm) tails in 3M™
M S2 ™ Modules or 710
Connectors for fast and
accurate installations.
Modular Hard w i reBlock System
3 M™ 4310 Modular
Hardwire Blocks
provide a complete
binding post system in a
variety of different blocks
and configurations. A l l
blocks feature extra-high
binding posts, creating the
greatest separation for easy
routing and tracing of
jumper wires and maxi-
mum moisture protection.
Choose the 4310 block
for termination of feeder
and distribution pairs, or the
3 M™ 4 3 11 Control Feeder
B l o c k for flexible assign-
ment of feeder pairs
a n d special applications
such as central off i c e
cut-overs. Each block is
factory terminated with
48" (122 cm) tails in
3 MM S2 Modules or 710
Connectors for fast and
accurate installations.
