1 Introduction
1.1 Objective In this tutorial, you will learn how to publish 3D Work Instructions in Microsoft Excel and HTML. This tutorial covers step (5) of the following workflow. 3D Work Instruction Workflow: (1) Open the 3D file in XVL Studio. (2) Build the Process Tree. (3) Edit the Work Instruction information. (4) Create the Process Animation. (5) Publishing the 3D Work Instructions in Excel/HTML. (6) Share the 3D Work Instructions across the organization.

1.2 Applications
This tutorial uses the following applications: • Lattice3D Reporter Ver. 6.1a
* Lattice3D Reporter Template option • XVL Player Ver. 12.2a • XVL Web Master Ver. 10.0a
* XVL Web Master Process Planning option • Microsoft Office Excel 2003 or later

2 Creating 3D Work Instructions in Excel
2.1 Inserting the 3D Model in Excel Open “Source Data\Template\ Process_template.xls” in Microsoft Excel. Select cells (B4:F12) for the 3D model in the Assembly Instruction worksheet.
On the Lattice toolbar, click the “Insert/Replace” 3D Model icon to open the Insert 3D Model dialog.

In the Insert 3D Model dialog, turn off “Open in Another Window” and turn on “Permit Cross-Link”. Browse to “Source Data\TT-4000Engine_process.xv2” and click the “Open” button.
The 3D model will be inserted into the selected area.

2.2 Creating a Parts List
Select cell (B14) as the location where you want the parts list to be created.
On the Lattice toolbar, click the “Create List” icon to open the Create List dialog.

In the Create List dialog, specify the Type to be “Parts List”. In Output Properties, make sure to turn on “No.”, “Name”, “PartNo”, “Qty” and “Description” and change the order as shown below, (Use the arrow buttons to reorder the properties).
Select OK. If the message below appears, click “Yes”.

2.3 Creating a Process List
Select cell (H4) as the location where you want the process list to be created.

From the Lattice toolbar, click the “Create List” icon to open the Create List dialog.
In the Create List dialog, set the Type to “Process List”. Make sure “Output Task” is turned on. In Output Properties, make sure to turn on “No.”, “Name”, “Working time”, “Comment” and change the order as shown below, (Use the arrow buttons to reorder the properties).
Select OK. If the message below appears, click “Yes”.

The process list will be created at the specified location.
2.4 Enabling Cross-linking
To enable cross-linking, select the “Cross-Link” icon on the Lattice toolbar.
Now parts are cross-linked between the 3D view, the parts list and the process list. When you select a step in the process list, the 3D view displays the selected process step.
2.5 Playing Process Animations In the 3D view, select the “Switch to View Mode” icon to switch to View Mode.

In the Animation Toolbar, select the Animation Options icon to open the Animation Options dialog.
In the Animation Options dialog, change the settings as shown below.

Click the “Play” icon to play the process animation.
2.6 Saving the 3D Work Instructions Save the workbook as “3D_process.xls”.

3 Publishing Work Instructions in Excel Using Templates
3.1 Publishing 3D Work Instructions Using a Template
Open “Source Data\Template\WorkInstruction_template_3D.xls” in Microsoft Excel.
Select the “Lattice” menu and click the Create Report icon. Select “Source Data\TT-4000Engine_process.xv2” and click the Open button.
A new Excel book is opened and the publishing process begins. When the “Report creation complete” message appears, click “OK”.

A 3D work instruction is created based on the template.

3.2 Viewing 3D Work Instructions
Select the first task on the “Assembly of Cooling Fan” sheet.

From the Animation Toolbar, select the Animation Options to open the Animation Options dialog.
In the Animation Options dialog, change the settings as shown below.
Click “OK” to close the dialog. Click the Play button to play the process animation.

To view other processes, select the sheet and then select the first task from the task list.
Save the workbook as “Work_Instruction_3D.xls”.

3.3 Publishing 2D Work Instructions Using a Template For XVL files that contain work instructions with exploded views, you can publish printable Work Instructions that include an exploded 2D illustration for each process.
Open “Source Data\Template\WorkInstruction_template_2D.xls” in Microsoft Excel.

Select the “Lattice” menu and click the Create Report icon.

4 Publishing 3D Work Instructions in HTML
4.1 Configuring XVL Web Master
Register the process template in XVL Web Master by copying the contents of the “Source Data\Template” folder to the XVL Web Master installation folder (ex. C:\Program Files\Lattice\WebMaster).
4.2 Setting XVL Web Master Parameters
Start XVL Web Master by selecting [Start} > [All Programs] > [XVL Web Master] > [XVL Web Master]. Click the [Settings] icon to open the Settings dialog.

4.3 Publishing the 3D Work Instructions in HTML Drag & drop “TT-4000Engine_process.xv2” into the XVL Web Master window.

Click the “Execute” icon to execute XVL Web Master. When processing completes the Result will change to OK. Click the “View” icon to view the result.
The 3D Work Instructions are published in HTML. (The main HTML file name is “TT-4000Engine_process.html”.)
