20th Annual Ethnography in EducationResearch Forum
` ` A Generation of Ethnography in Schools ’ ’
The 1999 Forum will be held M arch 5th and 6th on the Penncam pus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
The Forum hosts a diverse selection of workshops convened by researchers, graduatestudents, and practitioners in the ® elds of education and anthropology. The KeynoteAddress will be given by M argaret Eisenhart of the University of Colorado, Boulder onFriday evening, M arch 5th 1999.
Proposals are invited in areas such as the following.
E M ulticultural and inter-ethnic issues in education.E Practitioner research ± by teachers, administrators, students, parents, and
other school community members.E Critical and feminist studies in education.E Ethnographic evaluation in education.E Language issues in education.E Uses of ethnography in science and math education.E Uses of microethnographic methods in research on everyday school practice.E Ethnographies of urban education.E Action research in education settings.
Submission of proposals for individual papers, data analysis, works in progress,practitioner research, and group symposia on topics related to the areas of emphasis, aswell as topics in the anthropology of education more generally, are welcomed.Proposals m ust be subm itted by October 5th 1998.
