SEED: Our access to a broad range of germplasm providersand rigorous testing methods ensures our seed works where itmatters most - on your farm. We don’t produce for nationaldistribution. Instead, we start our process with researchthrough our Local LIFT program to identify top performinglocally focused product lines.
CONSERVATION: The amount of land and water available to usis finite. Therefore we strongly believe in the stewardship, sustainability, conservation, and improvement of theseresources. Our conservation philosophy is packaged withinour curated line of cover crop and wildlife seed that empowersgrowers to continually restore and sustain the naturalecosystem on their land for the next generation of farmers andoutdoorsmen.
RECREATION: Proper land management leads to aprosperous ecosystem, and we believe a big part of living isenjoying the land you own. Local Seed Co. believes in bringingthe same passion we have for agriculture to the innovation andmanufacture of wildlife products. That’s the best way to describe the LIFT program - it startswith understanding local needs and opportunities. Thislocalized assessment of needs provides us the knowledgerequired to search the thousands of pedigrees and traitoptions available for testing. The LIFT program allows LocalSeed Co. to select and deliver products that will provide adistinct regional advantage, often providing better optionsthan multinational companies.
We use multiple data sources to narrow our focus, yet deployour own research to arrive at the ideal product set. We mustknow how these products perform in our local fields andconditions before they become a part of our on-farmcommitment to growers.
Growers often rely on impartial research to make decisions.Local Seed Co. resources hundreds of internal trials and testsexternally with third-party cooperators and universities toutilize the most thorough research available as part of our LIFTlocal focus.

LOCAL COVER CROP RADISHThis selection of the daikon radish is excellent at breaking up deep compaction with its long, thin tap root. This tap root pulls nutrients from deepwithin the soil profile to bring to the tuber area (growth zone). When the Local Cover Crop Radish decays (winter kill OR 3 - 4 weeks prior toplanting cash crop), the nutrients are released for use by the cash crop.
• Excellent at breaking up deep compaction• Fast to establish: 30-45 days provides good soil coverage
and root growth
• Needs about 900 GDD’s to reach full maturity
SEEDING RATE SEEDING DEPTH LIFE CYCLE USES3-8 lbs. / Acre alone
1-3 lbs. / Acre in mixtures Shallow, up to ½” Annual Cover Crop
Brassicas Legumes
TROPHY OR BARSICA RAPEAnother small seeded brassica, this premium rape has a long slender tap root and provides a very high yielding forage above the soil. Greatcomponent in fall wildlife mixtures
• Fast to establish • High forage yields • Likely to winter over, depending on the winter severity
SEEDING RATE SEEDING DEPTH LIFE CYCLE USES4-6 lbs. / Acre alone Shallow, up to 1/2” Annual Cover Crop
BARKANT TURNIPSAs a very small seeded brassica option, Barkant Turnips are a key component of many wildlife food plot mixtures as well as a few cover cropmixtures. Only two or three pounds of this brassica will provide great ground cover / weed suppression as well as a high protein food source.
• Tremendous leaf canopy • High quality forage
SEEDING RATE SEEDING DEPTH LIFE CYCLE USES2-6 lbs. / Acre alone Shallow, up to 1/2” Annual Cover Crop
NEMAGONWHITE MUSTARDNemagon white mustard is a cover crop with outstanding nematode suppression. It hinders the life cycle of nematode larvae and acts as a naturalbio-fumigant when turned into the soil just before flowering. This high protein forage crop has high nitrogen content and increases soil tilth.Nemagon also contains high levels of glucosinolate - a compound similar to those found in commercial soil fumigant at a fraction of the cost.
• High levels of glucosinolate • Fast growth to out compete weeds • Large tap root
SEEDING RATE SEEDING DEPTH LIFE CYCLE USES6-15 lbs. / Acre alone Shallow, up to 1/2” Annual Cover Crop
