I would like to take this opportunity to commend our staff for the commitment and dedication shown always, but particularly over the past few months. Staff have been absolutely amazing in their continued care for students, planning for teaching and learning in a multitude of new ways, moving to new platforms for teaching, transitioning seamlessly from class groups to year level groups and back again and more. They have been extremely responsive and positive about every change - all implemented with student needs and support at the forefront. Staff have completed this work all the while managing their own families, concerns and challenges. Now that we are working back to 'normal' at school, many of our new learnings are being worked in to our everyday daily routines to support students. Teachers have spent time this term reinforcing students with boundaries, expectations and even some renewed getting to know you activities as we transition back to our 'new normal'. We continue to review our COVID-19 site restrictions regularly and remain guided by SA Health and our Department for Education. We are also mindful to take into account our local needs. As always, please continue to keep your children home if they are unwell, have a temperature or flu like symptoms. Unfortunately, after careful consideration and taking into account current advice of SA Health and the Department for Education regarding COVID-19, with great regret and sadness, we have had to make the decision to cancel the 2020 Year 7 Canberra Camp. This decision has been made through consultation and support from local Principals and School Governing Councils. I spoke with our Year 7 students last week to discuss this information and to explain that the health and wellbeing of students, staff and parent attendees had to be paramount. We are feeling the same level of challenge and disappointment as many other organisations who are currently trying to organise larger scale events. I would like to thank staff who have been involved in the planning to this point, for their work and commitment. This week our Year 6/7 teachers, students and volunteer parents have had the unique opportunity to support Loxton High School and their current curriculum review. Focus groups have been working to assist the High School to prepare for Year 7 students on their site in 2022 and to define what teaching and learning is important for them. This has provided a wonderful medium for our community and particularly our students to help shape the future of Loxton High as we move towards the transition of Year 7 students to High School in 2022. Tomorrow will see our staff working in small groups to moderate student work. This is important as we work to build consistency through planning and assessment. Staff are currently writing reports that reflect the 'different' way our school has looked this year, due to the challenges of COVID-19. Our Semester 1 report works to capture student progress, while being modified slightly to reflect the difference and variance of learning modes of students. Learning modes may have involved learning onsite, learning at home or a combination of both. The reports provide parents and carers with an outline of student progress and achievement. They will be distributed in Week 10 of this Term. I received a lovely #randomactofkindness this week. The Loxton Lions Club, who are sadly going in to recess for 12 months, have donated $500 to our school. This was such a pleasant surprise to receive and we are very grateful for their kind gesture. Take care and stay Safe. Dream Believe Learn & Achieve

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is exciting to note that after our unique start to Term 2, we now have all students learning onsite at

Loxton Primary School once again. I would like to take this opportunity to commend our staff for the

commitment and dedication shown always, but particularly over the past few months. Staff have

been absolutely amazing in their continued care for students, planning for teaching and learning in

a multitude of new ways, moving to new platforms for teaching, transitioning seamlessly from class

groups to year level groups and back again and more. They have been extremely responsive and

positive about every change - all implemented with student needs and support at the forefront. Staff

have completed this work all the while managing their own families, concerns and challenges.

Now that we are working back to 'normal' at school, many of our new learnings are being worked in

to our everyday daily routines to support students.

Teachers have spent time this term reinforcing students with boundaries, expectations and even

some renewed getting to know you activities as we transition back to our 'new normal'. We continue

to review our COVID-19 site restrictions regularly and remain guided by SA Health and our

Department for Education. We are also mindful to take into account our local needs. As always,

please continue to keep your children home if they are unwell, have a temperature or flu like

symptoms.

Unfortunately, after careful consideration and taking into account current advice of SA Health and

the Department for Education regarding COVID-19, with great regret and sadness, we have had to

make the decision to cancel the 2020 Year 7 Canberra Camp. This decision has been made

through consultation and support from local Principals and School Governing Councils. I spoke with

our Year 7 students last week to discuss this information and to explain that the health and wellbeing

of students, staff and parent attendees had to be paramount. We are feeling the same level of

challenge and disappointment as many other organisations who are currently trying to organise

larger scale events. I would like to thank staff who have been involved in the planning to this point,

for their work and commitment.

This week our Year 6/7 teachers, students and volunteer parents have had the unique opportunity to

and learning is important for them. This has provided a wonderful medium for our community and

particularly our students to help shape the future of Loxton High as we move towards the transition of

Year 7 students to High School in 2022.

to the challenges of COVID-19. Our Semester 1 report works to capture student progress, while being

7 Cass have completed some team building STEM challenges aimed around

overcoming boredom and lack of after school sports due to COVID 19.

They have made a series of cool mini golf courses and mini shoe box

mazes. These have been available for all classes to play in the Hall.

Students used ping pong balls for the golf courses and the pom poms for

the mazes.

3/4K having a great time!
