Rachael & Frank Duo Rachael Rule and Frank Nawrot are a Michigan-born Kansas-based musicians seeking to enrich their community through performances. Rachael received her Master of Music degree at UMKC. She's an active performer in the KC-metro area, playing with vocalists, churches, and other professional ensembles. Frank is a classical and pop guitarist with a doctorate in music composition from the University of Kansas. Matthew Bennett, Solo Violin A native of Kansas City, Matthew performs in The Omaha Symphony, New Generation Festival in Florence Italy, and Philharmonie Der Animato Stiftung in Zurich Switzerland. As a soloist and chamber musician he has performed for Art in the Loop, Heartland Chamber Music Festival, Juilliard, Mannes, and DukeTIP at the Lied Center of Kansas. Danielle Mays Duo

In January of 1997 Danielle moved to California where she worked behind the scenes & on camera in television, film, radio, stage & animation. She recorded albums w/Elektra Records, performed a summer on The Warp Tour, worked w/new composers on film & ballet scores, performed in music videos, played rock & jazz music in all the famous LA clubs, did a variety of musicals singing, dancing & playing multiple instruments & even worked as the assistant to the director on The Simpsons Movie. She moved back to the Midwest in 2017 to help start a new program w/Harmony Project KC. She quickly found Kansas City Civic Orchestra and other groups & teaches arts integration w/the STEAM/STEM program through Kansas City Young Audiences. Tom DeMasters

Tom DeMasters (1957) has been playing guitar since the age of 10. Tom studied for 4 years with jazz guitar great, Jerry Hahn at Wichita State University where he received a BME degree in 1980. DeMasters moved to Los Angeles in 1980 and attended USC for one year studying with Duke Miller. While in Los Angeles DeMasters also studied with Steve Vai, for 1 1/2 years, Ted Greene, and one lesson with Johnny Smith. DeMasters has been back in Kansas City since 1983 and made his mark playing with Mama Ray and the Rich Van Sant band at Harlings in Westport. Tom put out his solo CD, On the Bright Side, which can be purchased on many onsite locations. Tom can be heard on many different CDs, including the Big Woody Blues Band, Heather Thornton debut CD, Joe Cartwright's, Best of Kansas City II, Bradley Allen and Jim Laforte to name a few. Lately, Tom performs with Tim Whitmer and the KC Express, and also with Millie Edwards, co-hosting an open mic night at The Phoenix Club in Kansas City. Tom recorded his 2nd CD in 2012 titled Better to be Lucky featuring guitarist Jerry Hahn on 3 tunes. Benny Lee

Benny is Chairman and CEO of DuraComm Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri, which manufactures electronic switching power supplies and other innovative products including LED lighting systems. In 2013 he began learning to play the clarinet and performs regularly both domestically and internationally. Benny generously contributes to the Kansas City community serving on several boards, such as the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra. He is a Founding Member of Park University’s Trustees Society and serves on the Advisory Board of Park’s International Center for Music. He is also a board member of the Asian-American Chamber of Commerce, Command and General Staff College Foundation, FBI Citizen Academy and many others. He can be reached at [email protected]. The Kansas City Bassoon Band (KCBB) is a newly formed group for bassoonists of all levels to learn and grow musically together. The four musicians performing will be: Andrew West, Leia Barrett, Danielle Mays, and Mark Adair. Through chamber music and big band performances, we

provide avenues for performance locally and at select conferences. Rachael has been an active musician and teacher for seventeen years. She is originally from Georgia and holds a Bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Georgia. Since moving to the Kansas City area last year Rachael has been playing with the Kansas City Civic Orchestra and playing for weddings and events around the metro area. Rachael loves sharing music with others and is available to play for events as well as teach private lessons for violin and beginning to intermediate piano.
