ASIA AMERICA SYMPHONY ASSOCIATION 608 Silver Spur Road #320 Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274 David Benoit, Music Director & Conductor Dear friends and supporters of the Asia America Symphony Association: This season begins with our return to the Harlyne Norris Pavilion with a “Tribute to Leonard Bernstein” on Saturday March 17, 2018 at 8pm featuring the acclaimed International Korean artists, THE AHN TRIO, with myself and members of the Asia America Youth Symphony Orchestra. Featuring works by Bernstein in tribute to his 100 year Anniversary including his “Piano Trio” and music from his musicals including “Candide” and “West Side Story.” The season continues on Friday April 20, 2018 at 8pm with our ASIA AMERICA YOUTH SYMPHONY featuring works by Tchaikovsky, Benoit, Bizet and others at the James R. Armstrong Theatre, Torrance, CA and featuring are our sensational alumni soloists: violinist ELEANOR DUNBAR, saxophonist JUSTIN KLUNK, flutist ALBERT PAE, jazz trumpeter SARA SITHI-AMNUAI and many past AAYS Alumni musicians performing with this years’ orchestra. Finally, last Febuary we welcomed 32 youth musicians from the Child Fund Dream Orchestra of Korea to perform with the AAYS in the “Soul Meets Seoul” Concert at the Wilshire-Ebell Theatre and what a wonderful experience for our young guests and young musicians. Through the wonderful generosity of the D.K. Kim Foundation, this June 22 we will be sending 32 Asia America Youth Sym- phony musicians to perform with the full Child Fund Dream Orchestra of Korea where I will be conducting two spectacular joint concerts in Seoul, Korea. We look forward to seeing you during our exciting new 2018 season! The Ahn Trio, sisters Maria, Lucia, and Angella, have been redefining the art and architecture of chamber music, breathing new life into the standard piano-trio literature and giving electrifying performances to sell out crowds all around the world. In honor of Leonard Bernstein’s 100 Anniversary, they will be performing his Piano Trio and also collaborating with Music Director David Benoit and members of the Asia America Youth Symphony Orchestra. Founder, Music Director & Conductor DAVID BENOIT leads the multi-talented ASIA AMERICA YOUTH SYMPHONY through a varied program featuring the music from the film “Pirates of the Caribbean” and works by Tchaikovsky, Bizet and Benoit. Featuring alumni who have moved on to become outstanding professional musicians and soloists: International Flute soloist ALBERT PAE graduate of The Julliard School & Royal College of Music; virtuoso violinist ELEANOR DUNBAR graduate from Southern Methodist University is founder & leader of the Cezanne Quartet; saxophonist JUSTIN KLUNK and graduate from USC performs with Arianna Grande, St. Motel, & Lindsey Stirling; jazz trumpeter SARA SITHI-AMNUAI is a recent graduate from UCLA & LA freelance artist, to name a few.
