ABBREVIATIONS

VEXXISTM TECHNOLOGY NovAtel has been a leader in antenna technology with the Pinwheel® antenna. The newly developed VEXXIS antenna series improves upon this technology to balance key performance factors to meet the needs of even the most challenging applications. The VEXXIS GNSS-500 and GNSS-800 series feature a multi-point feeding network using patented phase reversal technology, which provides symmetric radiation patterns across all frequencies. This translates into excellent multipath rejection, and very small phase center variation and offset to generate better carrier phase measurements at the receiver. The GNSS-800 series features radiation pattern optimization technology to allow for improved gain and higher C/No in conjunction with multipath rejection to suppress erroneous GNSS signals that are closer to the horizon.

VEXXIS antennas strictly balance signals that sequentially feed the GNSS antenna at multiple points. This is the key to achieving outstanding circularly polarized, symmetric radiation patterns with superior multipath rejection performance.

GNSS-500 SERIESThe GNSS-500 series leverages the multi-point feeding network to greatly improve on the conventional patch antenna when it comes to low elevation satellite tracking capability. A much more stable phase center offset and variation allows for better performance than a patch antenna with comparable geometry.

The GNSS-500 series are very low loss antennas that utilize frequency independent amplitude/phase balance. Performance effects of this feature are evident on the GNSS-500 series when compared to the conventional patch

A common misconception in the marketplace is that the GNSS antenna is a peripheral component of a GNSS system. However, positioning actually begins at the antenna thus; antenna technology and design plays an integral role in the performance of a GNSS receiver. Size, weight, signal reception, antenna gain, and phase center stability are just a few of the factors that can have significant implications on positioning. It is important to understand how to take full advantage of these factors to maximize performance and efficiency at the GNSS receiver.

GNSS-800 SERIESTypically, attaining a moderate gain roll off is at the expense of peak zenith gain and resorting to high-profile antenna. The GNSS-800 series maintains a low profile and achieves both high peak zenith gain and low gain roll off from zenith to horizon without sacrificing tracking performance.

The GNSS-800 series achieves an improved axial ratio compared to the previous generation NovAtel Pinwheel®, and controls re-radiating cross-polarized waves to achieve less phase center variation. These attributes are ideal for survey, construction, mobile mapping, and unmanned ground vehicle applications.
