COLLEGE RECRUITMENT FAIR

USA Cycling is pleased to offer junior and U23 riders attending the 2015 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships an opportunity to talk with collegiate cycling program directors, team leaders, and admission officials from across the country. Collegiate cycling offers riders of all ability levels the chance to race in a team-focused environment while representing their colleges or universities. In the words of Ted King (Cannondale Pro Cycling), who started racing in collegiate cycling for Middlebury College, “Collegiate cycling is awesome. I can thank collegiate cycling almost exclusively for getting me where I am today. In a word, collegiate cycling is just fun… week in and week out you get to see the same awesome people from across the collegiate spectrum, have a blast racing with them, witness their ridiculous antics, and just have a great time doing it.” Collegiate cycling is not something you’ll want to miss out on, and neither is this recruitment fair, so be sure to stop by!

Where: Biltmore Estate Antler Hill Village When: Saturday, January 9th, 2pm – 4pm

In attendance will be representatives from schools including:

Fort Lewis College Lindenwood University Ripon College Lees-McRae College Milligan College

Marian University Mars Hill University University of Colorado Boulder King University Adams State University

COLLEGIATE TEAM RELAY GUIDELINES___________________

Each team will have up to four riders with at least one woman and one man, and no more than two men or two women. Potential team compositions would be: WM; WMM; WWM; WWMM

One representative of each team starts the race and at the end of each lap, there is an exchange to another rider. The race will be 4 laps long and riders may not do consecutive laps, so exchanges are mandatory each lap, even if a team has fewer than four riders.

Any two laps must be completed by women.

The exchange area will be divided into two lanes. Riders finishing their lap will funnel into one lane, and from the other lane, riders waiting to start their lap will start moving once their teammate has crossed the exchange line in the other lane.

Riders may not exit their start stalls until their incoming teammate has entered the exchange zone.

The rider finishing a lap MUST cross the finish line BEFORE his/her teammate. [10 second penalty]

Teams pick start stall at time of call-up. This stays the team’s start stall for the entire race.

The event counts toward the Team Omnium only.

DONUT RACE

The Donut “Race” at Cyclo-Cross Nationals in Asheville, N.C., is a fun event with all proceeds going to support a local 501c(3) non-profit. The local non-profit we chose to partner with is The iDream Athletes Foundation. The iDream Athletes Foundation provides opportunities for Western North Carolina youth and adults who are unable to pay for sporting event fees, coaching, travel expenses and/or equipment to train for and/or participate in WNC sporting events. The foundation provides needs-based scholarships determined on a case-by-case basis. We are happy to host an event that will support such a great non-profit. The Donut Race is open to anyone age 16 or older and will be held on a shortened section of our

national championship cyclo-cross course. The race will last approximately 20 minutes and participants will have the opportunity to eat donuts each lap to increase their overall total lap count. Cost is $10 and no USA Cycling license is required. Costumes are allowed and welcomed! We hope you join us for this fun event in support of a local non-profit that helps local athletes achieve athletic success.
