•Five day orientation program at the beginning of each semester•University housing is available but limited•Students will need to apply for a student visitor visa which is valid for up to six months•Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale is required•Materials must be submitted by May 31 for the fall semester
Utrecht UniversityLocated in Utrecht, The Netherlands
•University applies for a residency permit on behalf of student who is doing more than 3 months of study•Residency permit fee is around € 300 = $322 and must be completed by bank transfer only•Orientation at the start of each semester is mandatory•Recommended that students live on campus due to limited temporary housing in the city•Living expenses per month are estimated to be between € 800 ($859) and € 1000 ($1,074)•Non-EU/EEA students with a work permit can work up to 10 hours per week in the Netherlands
Catholic University of Portugal
Located in Lisbon, Portugal
•Visa is required for citizens of non EU countries•Does not offer on-campus housing but has an office that assists students with finding housing•Recommended that students arrive at least one week before classes begin•Fall semester generally begins the second week of September and lasts through late December•Spring semester begins around the second week of February and runs through late May•TLP Curriculum: Comparative Constitutional Review, Human Rights in a Comparative Perspective, International Humanitarian Law, Mass Media & Civil Rights
University of TrentoLocated in Trento, Italy
•Housing is provided by the university and is around € 250 ($268) a month for a double room and € 290 ($311) for a single room•Student housing is within walking distance from the campus or can be reached by public transportation•The fall semester is from September to December and the spring semester is from February to June•Italian Conversation Table is offered to international students for improving their Italian•International students may participate in free cultural excursions in the region that are organized once a month by the university
Korea UniversityLocated in Seoul, South Korea
•Students can take up to 19 credits per semester•Students are graded on a 100 point scale similar to the American system•Private health insurance is required at the time of enrollment•Must complete one full academic year at home institution to be eligible for the program•Off-campus and on-campus housing are both available
Cergy-PontoiseLocated in Paris, France
•Application deadline for fall semester is May 1 and October 31 for the spring semester•Courses are offered in English•A ‘D’ visa is required to study in France•Applications for student visas must be submitted 3 months in advance through a French embassy•Students are encouraged to seek housing in the private sector and to do so early—June for fall semester and November for spring semester•Student residence halls are available but limited and need to be paid for 3 months in advance •If under 28 years old and a citizen from an non-EU country, students must purchase health insurance through the university (around 186 Euros ($254 USD for one semester)
National University of Singapore
Located in Singapore
•Language of instruction is in English•Orientation is one to two weeks before the start of the semester•If students stay in on-campus housing, purchase of a meal plan is required•All students must hold a Student’s Pass issued by the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority to study at NUS•Students must enroll in university health insurance plan•University accommodations for one semester range from $1,000-$2,700•A work pass is required for an internship or a job off-campus if not counted towards course credits
Fudan UniversityLocated in Shanghai, China
•Application deadline is May 15 for the fall semester and November 15 for the spring semester•Fall semester is from early September to late January•Spring semester is from February to early July•On-campus and off-campus housing is available•Students are required to purchase an insurance plan through the university•On campus housing ranges from 45-80 ($7-$13) RMB per day
The Interdisciplinary Center HerzliyaLocated in Herzliya, Israel
•Spring semester of study abroad is March—June- not recommended for 3Ls•Fall semester is from October-January•Health insurance is required•Orientation is required and takes place one week before classes begin•University housing is available •Total estimated costs per month are $1,100 USD-includes housing, food, transportation, utilities, etc.

Located in Hamburg, Germany
•Language of instruction is in English though students may take a limited number of courses in German if proficiency in the language allows•Accepts students for Fall semester only•The fall semester begins in September and ends in December•Mandatory orientation program first week of September•No on campus-housing but works with nearby dormitories to arrange rooms for exchange students•The academic focus is on International and Comparative Law•Health insurance is required and can be purchased through the university or students can submit proof of their own plan provided it meets the requirements•A visa is required for a stay of more than three months•Visa papers must be submitted by July 15
Hong Kong University
Located in Hong Kong
•Offers on-campus housing but school will assist students with finding off-campus housing•A student visa is required and can take up to two months to process•JD students from North America can take some postgraduate courses•Students can enroll in courses offered outside the law school but cannot take more than 6 credits of non-law courses per semester•Students may apply to the HKU Buddy Program where an exchange student will be assigned to a current HKU student for the duration of their stay
National Taiwan UniversityLocated in Da'an, Taipei, Taiwan
•University housing is available and is open one week before the start of classes•Each semester-total estimated living costs for 5 months is 110,600 TWD = 3,650 USD•Fall semester is from September to January and the spring semester is from January to June•A “Visitor Visa” is recommended for students staying for a semester or for less than 180 days•Health exam is required prior to enrollment and a health form must be completed as well as stamped by the student’s physician and cannot be more than 3 months old at the time of submission•Health insurance is required but not available through the university
University of QueenslandLocated in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
•Spring semester of study abroad not recommended for 3Ls•Semester 2 is from July-November and Semester 1 is from February-June•Dual degree program available•Work is allowed on a student visa•Students are required to purchase health insurance through the university for the duration of their stay•On-campus housing is available but limited-students are encouraged to apply early•Monthly living expenses of living on campus are estimated to be $2,365 AUD
SorbonneLocated in Paris, France
•One year program•Courses are offered in French•Does not offer university housing but will provide assistance with finding accommodations•Academic year begins in early September•Students must have completed two years of study in the J.D. program to be eligible•Recommended that students apply for a visa at their nearest consulate at least two months prior to their departure•Students earn an LL.M. degree

Graduation Requirements:•Need 86 credits overall•1 Legal Ethics class•1 Seminar •1 ALPS class (Applied Lawyering/Professional Skills) •All first-year courses•Must have at least 67 Law classroom units upon graduation (can include classes abroad) http://law.wustl.edu/academics/pages.aspx?id=178
Order of the Coif: •At least 75% of a student’s units must be “graded” (Note: courses taken at WU under the modified pass/fail system count as “graded” under Coif’s definition)•64 graded units out of 86 total•Remaining non-graded units (could include Semester Abroad units)= 22 http://law.wustl.edu/registrar/pages.aspx?id=2550

Transfer credits:•Students cannot take a class that would be substantially the same as a class they have taken before•Always have study plan signed off by a WashU administrator•Up to 1/3 of credits (28 units) from studies abroad are transferable•Transfer credits will not count towards GPA •Credits only for grades of at least “C” or better•Grade/credit conversion will be done by WashU Transfer students from US law schools:Can study abroad for one semester but need approval if they want to do more than a semester abroad Exams:•Some foreign law schools have exam schedules that differ widely from our schedules•In order to be able to return in time for graduation or start of a new semester in the U.S., students should make arrangements with professors to take exams early or have exams proctored at WashU

Graduation:
Students who go abroad during the spring semester (their last semester) need to keep the following in mind:
•Final grades need to be turned in shortly before commencement at the latest.•Late grade submission: Student receives June degree but can still sit for July Bar exams.•June degree students can still participate in May commencement ceremony but will not be listed in commencement brochure of that year (sometimes also Dec. graduates) •Will not receive diploma in May commencement ceremony
