ATLANTIC 10 IN THE POSTSEASON

The 14 member institutions of the Atlantic 10 all have successful winning traditions on a national stage. Through their history, they have combined for 109 postseason appearances. Throughout the A-10’s 34 years of women’s basketball history, 12 different programs have been crowned conference champions.

Since the 2006-07 season, the Atlantic 10 has sent 66 teams to the postseason, including three teams to the NCAA Tournament in seven of the last 10 years. There have been 27 appearances in the NCAA Tournament by A-10 teams in that 10 year time frame, 17 of which have come via at-large bids. The Atlantic 10 has had at least five teams qualify for postseason play every year, with 10 of the 14 current members having made the postseason, during that span.

In 2015, seventh-seeded Dayton advanced to the Elite Eight following victories against Power 5 programs: Iowa St., Kentucky and Louisville before falling to eventual national champion, Connecticut.

A-10 COACHINGFRESH FACES IN THE A-10Four Atlantic 10 programs will feature a new coach during the 2016-17 season. Shauna Green (Dayton) and Jesse Fleming (St. Bonaventure), longtime assistants in the A-10 will be taking over programs coming off postseason appearances. Jennifer Rizzotti takes over the top spot for a GW program that is coming off consecutive A-10 titles. Coming off back-to-back trips to the WNIT, Tory Verdi will hope to replicate that success for the Minutewomen as he begins as tenure as head coach at UMass.

SELECT COMPANYCindy Griffin, the all-time leader in wins at Saint Joseph’s, has compiled an overall record of 332-244 and is currently in her 19th season as a head coach. She is the eighth coach in NCAA Division I history to lead her alma mater to the NCAA Tournament as a player and a coach.
