About the Haliburton Highlands Cycling Coalition: The Haliburton Highlands Cycling Coalition (HHCC) was formed in the

fall of 2005. Our Vision: Haliburton County will provide and promote safe and enjoyable cycling of all types for all ages.

Our mission: To represent the interests of the cycling public within Haliburton County, through creating awareness, promoting safe

cycling practices, advocating for cycling, being a resource, networking and listening to cyclists.

About the map: We have attempted to include most of the cycling routes commonly used in Haliburton County. The most popular

routes are lettered clearly on the map and are described on the chart. We have also highlighted other roads that are enjoyable

routes less frequently used. Although not all roadways and hills are shown, we have tried to provide distances and hill chevrons on

most of the major roads to allow you to create your own favorite route. Happy Cycling!

For more information about cycling in Haliburton County or to share your comments please go to our website at

A truly Canadian Icon, a log chute is a man-m

testament to the tenacity and perseverance of the

tens of thousands of men w

the logging industry, and whose courage helped

forged the comm

Buttermilk Falls

Hwy 35

This interesting waterfall is

not natural, but is unique

and interesting. This

concrete sluiceway is

approximately 30 m

long and creates a 4-5 metre

drop before firing the water

out onto natural bedrock.

The water is m

oving quite

fast and has some serious force behind it. At the top

of the waterfall there is a bridge that crosses over from

the parking lot to a walking trail. There is also a sm

all

walking trail that runs parallel to the w

Haliburton Fish Hatchery

Golf Etiquette 101Here are a few basic tips to keep in

mind when out on the course:1. Arrive early so you can warm up

before going out.2. Check the scorecard to learn any

local rules.3. Avoid slow play! If your group is unable to keep up with the pace of play and other golfers are behind

you, allow them to pass.4. Care for the course. Replace divots, rake bunkers and use a repair tool to

repair pitch marks or indentations caused by the ball hitting the green.

5. Be considerate of your fellow players. Never hit a ball if there’s a

chance of hitting someone ahead of you. If a ball looks like it might land near them, yell “fore!” Don’t step on

another player’s putting line.*Some of these tips obtained

from the PGA.

Fall is a visually stunning time of year in the Haliburton Highlands. The magnificent autumn colours are always breathtaking. Take in their vibrancy by getting a panoramic view at one of the scenic lookouts, including the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower. Perched 165 feet above Lake of Bays, this is quite possibly the most suitable location to get an unobstructed view of your surroundings.Another way to get a close look at the foliage is to go for a hike through the forest. Make sure to bring along a camera! In addition, this time of year brings with it dozens of family-friendly events that will get you out and about at all times of the day. ColourFest Fall Festival is a popular one-day event (Oct. 3) held in the village of Haliburton that features buskers, bands, pontoon boat rides and a classic car show.October is also the month to bring out all the ghouls and goblins! Get into the Halloween spirit by attending a community Halloween party or the second annual Zombie Walk.

The water is m

Haliburton Head Lake Trail

Minden Village Loop

Minden-Gelert-Minden

Note: Degree of difficulty is based onterrain and distance.

Users of this map bear full responsibility for their own safety and must carefully read the following notes prior to using

this map:

This map is an indication of suggested routes only. All routes are on shared roadways. Designation of a route does not

guarantee any minimum lane width. Arterial roads may have higher traffic volumes compared to local roads. All routes

should be evaluated by each cyclist based on level of experience, health, comfort level in cycling in or adjacent to traffic,

weather conditions, time of day. The county, agencies and individuals who have contributed to the development of this map

are not responsible for the personal safety of cyclists who use this map. Cyclists are bound to observe the same Rules of the

Road under the Highway Traffic Act as are operators of other vehicles.
