Please RSVP To the King’s Invitation

You are a pauper, a peasant, a commoner. It is the year 530AD, in England. As you drag your grubby self out of bed in the morning, a well-dressed gentleman arrives by carriage at the door of your humble abode. He steps over to your door, knocks and awaits your greeting. He hands you a sealed envelope. Collecting yourself from being overwhelmed at such a visitor, you open the paper delivery in his presence. He stands, waiting. The envelope contains a gold embossed card with hand written inked words, “You are hereby invited to a dinner given by King Arthur at Tintagel Castle on such and such date at such and such time. RSVP please.” Your imagination runs away with you. “Who, me?” you wonder. All the images go through your mind… It will be a formal affair. Dress nice, look your best. It is more than an honor to have received the gold embossed invitation, hand delivered by one of his messengers. What will you say? Will you announce to the messenger that you will be attending or turn him away cold? R.S.V.P. stands for a French phrase, "répondez, s'il vous plaît”, which means "please reply." The person sending the invitation would like you to tell

him or her whether you accept or decline the invitation. That is, will you be coming to the event or not? Etiquette rules followed in most Western cultures

require that if you receive a formal, written invitation, you should reply promptly, perhaps that same day.

Before you tell the messenger, “Yes”, you consider the honor of the invitation, your unworthiness and his graciousness. You consider the trip, you ponder on the experience before even going. You anticipate it, you actually desire going! Wow! You reply with signing the card with your name. When the time comes to go, you are prepared, and rise to the occasion. You have been invited by the King of Kings to a special meal, The Lord’s Supper. The King has invited we paupers into his presence. Our response and our preparations are important. What would you say, were you to receive an RSVP card? Your RSVP card to the King’s Dinner is in the pew. It is the Communion Card. For a deepening understanding of the invitation to His meal, we ask that everyone participating fill one out as often as you come. Similarly, when those invited do not fill out a Communion Card, your pastors and elders work to re-invite them, or see if they have special circumstances that keep them from attending. The invite is not embossed in gold, but the gift given there is richer than gold!

What Jesus Means to Me By Brent Valesano

(This is a sample of faith as expressed by a Confirmand from the past.)

I believe that Jesus lived as a man. I know that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Now, from when He was crucified, has taken all the sins that God forbids, and put them all on himself and to do this He had to die on the cross. Whenever we sin, we should pray for forgiveness, and think of the pain and suffering Jesus went through which really should have been our pain. Although God knows we have already gotten our sins forgiven, we should pray for forgiveness, and although we know that our sins are forgiven, we should not keep on sinning as if it had become another habit in our life. I know that Jesus has kept me away from that. I believe that with God, Jesus has made all mankind, including me, all the plants and animals and basically, everything that we use, touch, and see today. He is the source of all life. Although it has sort of gotten out of hand from temptations from the devil, Jesus has tried and is still trying to bring the world to more of a Christian standpoint. He got us this far without a very bad situation. I can think of a worse condition we would be in if Jesus had stopped trying right when Adam and Eve had first sinned. He started them out perfect, but we took over from there. Because of Jesus, I will stay safe because He watches over everyone, even His enemies, and he keeps us safe from the danger of the devil and other dangers. There has been close calls in my life but most of the time I wasn’t even touched. When I do get injured I think ‘why me,’ but I know it is God’s will. I believe in Him, I believe I will be saved, in time of danger, I will go to him, and as they say on the track team, “He’s our number 1 man.”

inviting Camp Luther to lead our 1st – 5th graders this

year. Preschool thru Kindergarten students will enjoy

the theme – Weird Animals: Where Jesus’ Love is One of a Kind. We are also looking at the possibility of

expanding the day’s events to include afternoon and/or

evening events. Stay tuned for details but put these

dates on your calendar now! ☺

ALL USHER TRAININGALL USHER TRAININGALL USHER TRAININGALL USHER TRAINING Usher training is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22nd, 6-7 pm in the sanctuary. All ushers are encouraged to attend. Lead ushers, please contact the ushers in your group to determine who will be attending. Any congregational members interested in becoming an usher should also attend.

As ushers, we are under the guidance of the Board of Elders. Ushers working with the Elders will enhance the worship service environment for the worshippers. A goal of the training session is to have consistency. We want to have congregational members and visitors feel welcome and have a respectful experience, no matter which worship service they attend.

“The sheep listen to the voice of the shepherd. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. ---John 10:3”

When I see a flock of sheep I see exactly that---a flock. A bunch of wool. A herd of hooves. I don't see a sheep. I see sheep. All alike. None different. When we see a crowd of people, we see exactly that---a crowd. Flooding the mall, filling the stadium---we see a crowd. A herd of humans. A flock of faces. That's what we see.

But not so with the Shepherd. To Him every sheep is different, every face special. And every sheep has a name. The one with the sad eyes? That's Droopy. The small one with the black patch on his leg? That's Joseph. The fellow with one ear up, one ear down? That's Oscar. The Shepherd knows His sheep. He calls them by name.

We see a flock. We see a crowd. But not so with the Shepherd. To Him every face is a story. Every face is His child. Every child has a name. The Shepherd knows you. He knows your name---and He will never forget it.

“I have written your name on my hand. Isa. 49:16” Quite a thought, isn't it? Your name on God's hand. Your name on God's lips. Maybe you've seen your name in some special places---on an award, or a diploma, or a plaque on your desk. Maybe you've even talked to some important people---the CEO of a prominent company, the local TV weatherman who lives down the street, the cop who goes to your church. Did they remember your name? Did they write your name on their hand?

I doubt it. But God did. Written on His hand.....spoken by His mouth. YOUR NAME! But did you know God has a new name He will place on a stone for you? This is written in the Bible - - -

“I will give some of the hidden manna to everyone who wins the victory. I will also give to each who wins the victory a white stone with a new name written on it. No one knows this new name except the one who receives it.” Rev. 2:17

Incredible to know that God has saved a name just for you! The road ahead is so wonderful a fresh name is needed. Your eternity is so special no common name will do.

So---be there when God whispers your name.

Thanks for the offer…but we DO NOT accept computer monitors, printers, televisions (unless they are flat panel), clothes or Encyclopedia-type books. Dear Parents, February, 2014

I have some exciting news from our Board of Directors! After a thorough process of discovery and

prayerful consideration, our governing Board has voted to pursue entrance into the statewide

Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) for current and prospective families to be able to

receive a voucher scholarship to attend our school.

In order for NEW Lutheran to be able to receive the voucher scholarships, we must be in the top 50

schools in the state by number of applications to our school. This means that we need as many

eligible families to apply as possible. Income guidelines are used for families and voucher schools

to determine eligibility (from 2013 Adjusted Gross Income on taxes). Please go to our website at

www.newlhs.com and click on the application link to find out if you qualify.

From now through April 21st at 4pm, you will be able to fill out the online application form at

www.newlhs.com in the bottom left hand corner of the homepage. Once complete, you will be

contacted by us to verify the application by bringing in documentation to the school office. Verified

applications will then be counted in our tally. As mentioned earlier, we need as many applications

as possible to gain admission into this program. If NEWLHS is in the top 50 we will receive a

minimum of 10 voucher scholarships with the potential to receive more through the Wisconsin

Department of Public Instruction’s random selection process. We have voucher seats available in

every grade level for 2014-15.

Please take the time to do this. If NEWLHS were to be in the top 50 schools, many families would be

able to receive our quality Christian education for free. These families often times receive tuition

assistance, which in turn could be freed up for other families looking to attend our school – a double

blessing for sure! There is also no commitment to use the voucher if accepted. You will still have a

choice whether to accept it or not. Your application would be very much appreciated, though.
