Welcome!
In just seven short years, the New York Antique Jewelry & Watch Show has established itself as a must attend event in the heart of Chelsea. This year, more than 100 industry recognized dealers in antique, estate and vintage jewelry and watches will convene for four days only.
I‘d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about what you’ll see on our show floor. First, you’ll notice a wide variety of pieces from elite global brands, like Cartier, Tiffany & Co., David Webb, Harry Winston and many more, populating the aisles. Many of today’s recognized jewelry brands were established in the late 1800s and you might be amazed at how many of those earlier pieces have materialized in the market place.
Second, you’ll find one-of-a-kind antique and vintage collections. For instance, New York dealer Bernard Nacht & Company (Booth 1030) will have a unique Raymond Yard reverse intaglio brooch with a peacock motif at their booth. In addition, Camilla Dietz Bergeron (Booth 6002) will be showcasing a 1935 yellow gold, platinum, lapis lazuli, turquoise and diamond scarab brooch from Cartier, Paris.
You can also see merchandise that is keeping pace with the hottest trends for summer 2014, including fancy colored diamonds, polished gold and statement watches. Rubies, sapphires, emeralds and pearls, among others, will be set beautifully in rings, brooches, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. There’s certainly something for each individual style!
I encourage you to take a few minutes to speak with our dealers. You’ll not only witness their plethora of knowledge in antique jewelry and watches, but also observe standout pieces that often have interesting and unusual stories.
I hope that you enjoy your time with us today. We’ll be back in New York this November to host the Pier Antique Show at Pier 94, Nov. 22-23. We’d love to see you there! For more information on any of our events, I invite you to visit USAntiqueShows.com.
Thanks and Enjoy the Show!

Gold Jewelry: Whether purchased as an investment piece or just used to accessorize an everyday look, gold will always be a common closet staple. Throughout history, gold has been treasured for its natural beauty and was popular among all areas of jewelry history, especially early Egyptian. Recently, gold has made a statement on the red carpet at the 2014 Met Gala. Dita Von Teese wore a Van Cleef & Arpels estate necklace from 1946 with diamonds, topaz, and enamel set in 18k yellow gold. Cuffs: Cuff bracelets, which are prominent in Egyptian, Mayan and Incan history, have dominated the fashion shows this season. At Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2014 runway show, Creative Director Sarah Burton concentrated her collection on a cultural merge of African and early 20th century art and utilized metal headwear and stacks of cuff bracelets to accentuate it. Nina Ricci and Céline also used cuffs on the runway to highlight their designs. Pearls: Throughout history, pearls have been among the most coveted. Most ancient civilizations, from the Chinese to the Aztecs, used pearls as personal adornments. Chanel’s 2014 Spring/Summer Collection is all about pearls! However, Chanel took a non-traditional approach to the conventional pearl necklace by using two giant pearls casually worn headphone-style around the model’s neck. Karl Lagerfeld, head designer and creative director at
Chanel, explains, “My favorite thing is the new necklace like an earphone, it’s two huge pearls, but in fact it’s very flattering because the huge pearls give a beautiful light on the girl’s face.” Chokers and Collars: Chokers date back to the Ancient Egyptians. This group of people favored a “broad collar” comprised of beads strung in vertical, parallel rows fashioned in a bib-like shape. At this year’s Met Gala, many celebrities embraced the high fashion look of chokers and collars. Rihanna went sleek and sexy in a Stella McCartney cropped top with a floor-length skirt, but the focal point of her look was her on-trend, four carat diamond choker by Jacob & Co. This choker was made with several shapes of diamond including princess cut, emerald cut, pear shape, round cut and oval cut, all mounted on 18k white gold. Retro Watches: Retro timepieces have recently been popular with both men and women alike. Retro jewelry is a style created between approximately 1935 and 1945 (although pieces were also created up to 1950). At the Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer fashion show, the company explored the sixties with college girl skirt suits in psychedelic prints. They also had the models adorn a new version of the Ralph Lauren 867 watch. Set on a thick black strap, the square watch face inspired by the design brand’s iconic Madison Avenue store, features retro-style numbering.

Wildlife and Decorative Designs: Wildlife and decorative patterns grew a following in the 1960s. Some of the major houses like Cartier, David Webb and Van Cleef & Arpels have crafted animal pieces covered in diamonds. This year, they’re back and according to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), animal prints, like leopard, tiger and zebra motifs, as well as decorative designs such as paisleys, calligraphy, petals and leaves punctuate any summer look. Designer Roberto Cavalli incorporated this trend into his 2014 spring collection having his models wear Birds of Paradise necklaces down the runway. Playful Pieces: The summer season encourages all of us to embrace our whimsical side. Mixing Japanese and streetwear influences, Marni Spring/Summer 2014 runway show highlighted playful elements in their collection. The models wore accessories featuring mini sunglasses, bows and perfume bottles pinned to strips of folded fabric. Playful pieces became popular in the Art Nouveau era. This period explored different types of jewelry motivated by the designer’s vision and introduced new gemstones.
