going to read aloud the article below on India and the monsoons.

• Now answer the following Type One Prompt: What aspect of monsoons do you think has the greatest impact and why?

The Monsoon is a Life and Death Issue

• A successful crop year depends on when the wet monsoon season starts, how much rain falls, and when the season ends.

• Only nature can control these factors.• The monsoon also causes damages: roads and bridges

washed out, mudslides, railroad tracks misaligned or washed out, flooding, water supply contamination, increase in disease vectors (insects).

• Ironically, many die each year from monsoon related conditions while all life in the area is ultimately dependant on the wet monsoon for life.

• Click on the National Geography South Asia Chapter that is uploaded in pdf format. It cannot be printed up. You have to work from it on the computer.

• We will be using the pages of 569-579 (in textbook pages ) or pages 16-27 (in pdf pages).

• You are to add to the class notes from the reading taking notes in either RED, PINK, or PURPLE Pen to distinguish them from the class notes.

• This will be checked for Class Participation Points.

• Chunking of the PDF Reading and Note-Taking Homework:
