    Q. Why did you choose Clemson?A. The family environment. It feels like home here.

    Q. What are your pregame rituals?A. I like to fl ip through the program and stretch. I do not tend to listen to music like a lot of the guys do. But if I did, I would listen to classic rock.

    Q. What have been your top moments as a Tiger?A. My fi rst start against Georgia last year and winning that game. Also, running down the Hill for the fi rst time was an amazing experience.

    Q. What are the best parts of playing for Clemson?A. Being able to wear the Paw. There is so much behind the Paw, the uniform and the university. There is such great tradition here and it is great to be a part of it.

    Q. What is the best advice you have received from your coaches?A. To always come out with a positive attitude. Having a positive attitude in every aspect of life can really bring a different outlook on everything.

    Q. Who has infl uenced you the most during your time with the program?A. When I fi rst came here, the starting center was Dal-ton Freeman. He really took me under his wing and taught me a lot. He was a role model for me even if he did not know it.

    Q. Who is your biggest role model?A. My parents. They both work extremely hard to make life a lot easier for me and I will never be able to repay them for that. They are awesome.

hen fans envision an indoor practice facility like the one that was completed for the Tiger football team in 2013, certain stereotypes

come to mind. Common perceptions are largely simplistic in nature, and the idea that a facility that is solely for game preparation, out of the gaze of onlook-ers and carries a large amount of impor-tance seems crazy. But the facility was never about football alone. In fact, the $10 million structure serves to unify the athletic de-partment, while providing Tiger football with a cutting-edge structure that helps complete a nationally-relevant program. On its face, the facility does exactly what it purports to do...provide a place for Head Coach Dabo Swinney to take his team in case of inclement weather without disrupting a schedule of events that is packed full on a daily basis. It equips the Tigers with a lavish place to prepare for opponents in a game-like at-mosphere. It houses an 80,000-square-foot practice area that includes a full fi eld, which is surrounded by ample sideline space to provide a comfortable environ-ment. In order to simulate a gameday experience, there is a fully-functional scoreboard inside the facility along with four play-clocks and a videoboard. High above the fi elds, on the second story of the nearly 70-foot structure, is a long coaches platform so that practice can be viewed from above. In addition, by way of a short corridor, the platform extends to the back side of the building, so that any drills taking place outside on the other two fi elds can be seen from the building. The indoor facility, which includes more than 5,000 square feet of support,

FACILITIESFACILITIESalso contains a small strength & condi-tioning area and a training room. Clemson has also taken advantage of the WestZone at Memorial Stadium, completed in 2009. It is 150,000 square feet, including a two-fl oor strength training facility (14,000 square feet), among the nations largest dedi-cated solely for football. The equipment room was expanded to include, among other items, new offices and a new laundry room that encompasses approximately 6,000 square feet of space. The football staff offi ces and meeting rooms are composed of approximately 4,000 square feet of existing space and more than 18,000 square feet of new space. The facility includes offi ces for the head coach, assistant coaches and support staff along with position meeting rooms and a 150-seat auditorium with a sloped fl oor and theater seating. The training room, located on the north side of the home teams locker room, was expanded to include a hydrotherapy room, offi ces and examination rooms. The training room is 6,200 square feet as well. Prior to the 2012 season, over 8,000 square feet of enclosed space was added on the second level, which houses The Paw, Clemsons training table. In the summer of 2014, WestZone underwent further renovations, including refurbishing of the recruiting areas and added graphics. Moving all football operations to the WestZone has opened up space in the Jervey and McFadden Buildings for the other 18 sports to improve their facilities for recruiting and have more offi ce, training, conditioning and sports medicine space. This has enhanced the performance, both on and off the fi eld, for all 19 sports.

    IPTAY STAFFIPTAY STAFF2014 CLEMSON FOOTBALL

Since 1934, IPTAY has been a leader in intercollegiate athletics fundraising, and our brand has been built by grassroots efforts and representatives spread

throughout the Southeast who work in their communities to build support. We have had many people contribute their time and resources and who have been very supportive of the University. That has manifested itself in large season-ticket bases, incredible passion and many people being involved. We are trying to grow the brand even more by expanding the scope of what IPTAY does. The process of recruiting student-athletes is critical to the success of Clemson athletics. As we recruit top high school prospects from around the country, we must be prepared to offer them the best possible student-athlete experience. Because of generous IPTAY donors, the One IPTAY enterprise was able to raise a record total of $32 million in 2014. These dollars contributed by our 14,906 members directly impact the lives of our nearly 500 student-athletes in our 19 athletic programs through scholarships, facilities and academic support. From the Tiger Cub Club to the Annual Fund, Major Gifts and everything in between, your gifts matter. As I mentioned above, we are truly One IPTAY. This is to say that IPTAY includes all components - annual fundraising, major gifts and planned giving. Beginning this year, we are excited to add two new components to our umbrella - oversight of the premium seating program and Tiger Letterwinners Association. These will be two additions to our donor offerings as we grow. The future is bright for both IPTAY and Tiger athletics because of our very important members! If you are not currently a member, I urge you to join and support the One IPTAY enterprise. The IPTAY Board and our staff are dedicated to doing everything possible to ensure funding for Clemson athletics will be on solid footing for years to come. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for IPTAY, our student-athletes and athletic program. You are important members of the team, and I appreciate all of your support.

  • IT WAS 1934 AND CLEMSON HAD JUST BEEN DEFEATED 6-0 BY THE CITADEL, NOT THE ONLY DEFEAT THAT YEAR. JOE DAVIS, FRANK JERVEY AND PETER HEFNER ASKED THEN-COACH JESS NEELY HOW MUCH MONEY IT WOULD TAKE FOR HIM TO PUT OUT A GOOD TEAM. HE REPLIED THAT HE THOUGHT HE COULD DO IT WITH $10,000 A YEAR.

    122

  • The group that went on to form IPTAY determined to ask

team supporters for $50 a year, but that amount proved to be

too much a huge amount in the middle of the Depression.

Rupert Fike met with other Clemson

alums and penned the letter to Coach

Neely that offi cially got the ball roll-

ing: Dear Coach, last night we had a

little meeting at my house and orga-

nized the IPTAY Club. That IPTAY

stood for I Pay Ten a Year.

IPTAY in the 21st CenturyFrom $10 a year, the demands of collegiate athletics and the support of IPTAY have grown substantially. Today, IPTAY provides millions of dollars in support for 19 varsity sports and various other programs that help to enrich the lives of Clemson student-athletes. But, the goal of building top competitors has never changed.

In the classroom, on the fi eld, in the workplace, Clemson student-athletes must be prepared to be leaders in every phase of their lives. IPTAY has always been about creat-ing excellence in every area by supporting the development of top-quality student-athletes competitors both in the classroom and in their sports. Our loyal donors provide the funds that make Clemson a strong competitor on the national scene.

IPTAY provides: annual scholarships, operation of Vickery Hall and its student-athlete enrichment programs, facility funding, IPTAY operations, and reserve funding for priority needs.

FROM I Pay Ten a Year to today.

  • Everyone knows Im Solid Orange. Ill tell anyone how great Clemson is. I know that what IPTAY provides for the student-athletes makes a huge difference in our success. It helps everywhere scholarships, recruiting, facilities, hiring, training. Anything that is important to the team IPTAY is right in the middle of it. Im proud to be a member of IPTAY myself.

  • Scholarships make all the difference for hardworking student-athletes.

When I started looking at colleges, I was really impressed with what IPTAY has done for

Clemson. It was more than just the scholarships. Theres always a big group of IPTAY fans at the games, and theres support for new facilities and Vickery Hall. I always feel that IPTAY is the group we can count on to be behind the Tigers.

    C.J. DAVIDSON

When he had to give up outdoor track and fi eld, he also gave up his scholarship to Clemson. But when his coaches pulled him aside at the fi rst of the 2013 season, C.J. realized that his hard work had paid off in a scholarship that would make all the difference for him.

Basketball gets tough; its very time consuming. But I'm here to get my education first, and Vickery is a

huge help with that. I don't know

how I would get by without it.
