Day One: Thursday, April 10, 2014• Class: Now Ms. Barben is going to read aloud the

newspaper article below. As she does, you should be doing Active Reading strategies. Then go back and add to your answers.

• Class: Ms. Barben is going to do her China’s Geography Powerpoint, and you will be taking notes in the provided graphic organizer. – This is to be done in PENCIL, BLACK, or BLUE PEN.

Day One: Thursday, April 10, 2014• Homework: For the next two nights, you will be accessing in pdf format from my

teacher page National Geographic East Asia Chapter and taking notes in the graphic organizer provided by Ms. Barben in either PINK, ORANGE, RED, or PURPLE Pen.

• Pages Clarification: The reading is in pdf format, so there are two ways to read the pages either in the pdf numbers or in the textbook pages at the bottom. I have identified the textbook pages not the pdf pages.

• 9. Homework: Jigsaw Method---You are to go to Ms. Barben’s China’s Environmental Problems Powerpoint on her teacher page and fill in the provided graphic organizer for your assigned Problem in the provided graphic organizer.

Day Four: Tuesday, April 22, 2014• Groups: Ms. Barben is going to have you break

into your Environmental Issues Jigsaw Groups, and you will have the entire class period to cover the content required for the graphic organizer.

• Homework: You are to label and color-code the Political Map of China.

• Resources to Use:– Maps in the PDF Geography Chapter we read that are

on pages 6-9.– Ms. Barben’s Separate Powerpoint of just Maps– Internet

Day Five: Block Day Wednesday, April 23 or Thursday, April 24, 2014

• Groups: If needed, the Jigsaw Groups can have 15 more minutes to finish the Environmental Issues notes.

• Class: We are going to watch a recent documentary on the Three Gorges Dam from You Tube. It runs about 25 minutes. You are to add to your notes.

• ****Change---Since it is a Block Day, we are going to watch a longer documentary on the Three Gorges Dam. We will be watching the documentary “Lost in China with the Hutchens Brothers---Three Gorges Dam”

• Homework: You are to label and color-code the Physical Map of China. Use the same resources identified for the Political Map.
