Sometimes the day is defined by our first steps: the first steps out of bed in the morning, the

steps out of the door to work, and the first step into your house as you return at night. When the routine is broken and you have a choice over these steps, where do you want go? What steps do you want to take and where do you want to take them? With an aim to be healthier and take more steps in a day, which steps stand apart? When the halls of the office become the chosen snowshoe trail in the winter, which steps are the favorite? The first step into snow? The last step before the summit? Or is it the last step back when returning to the car? That’s what we want you to think about as you set off on your own adventures this winter — which steps did you take that made the day significant and stand apart from all those that are routine?

We hope your first step is to read through the catalog to decide which snowshoes are a good fit for your adventures this winter. Your second step is to start planning more steps off the beaten path. Isn’t that one of the main benefits of snowshoeing? The ability to step easily off the trail and explore where you’d like to go?

HOW MANY STEPS can you take in 12 hours? That’s how long it took the talented Simon Beck to make this Sierpinski triangle with the Tubbs logo. Each edge is 787 feet!

My most memorable step: “My favorite step was when the waterfalls came into view at the Pass, I didn’t expect them to be majestically frozen over with a million icicles suspended. At that moment — with the silence in the air, the snowflakes lightly coming down, and the rolling snow blanketing hills — it felt like a winter wonderland.”

Leaving the house, car, and even trail behind is when

backcountry adventure begins. Every step moves you closer

to a ridge or summit, and those final steps on the ascent can

be some of the best. Tubbs Backcountry snowshoes were

designed so you don’t have to worry about your equipment

and can focus on reaching the destination. The snug bindings

found on our Backcountry snowshoes were designed to hold

your boot securely and to keep your ankle aligned with

Control Wings™. The ActiveLift™ 19° heel lift ensures steep

slopes won’t strain your Achilles as you attack each step

for the summit. We want you to trust the equipment, so

your destination – and enjoying the steps it will take to get

there – can be your focus.

Hi, my name is: Anne M.My day job: Conservation Stewardship DirectorPlace I call home: Minneapolis, MN

My most memorable step: “My favorite step, without fail, is the moment I first set foot on the trail. I like to close my eyes and take a moment to listen. The sound of wind whispering through the pines, the chatter of nuthatches and chickadees as they flit from branch to branch, and the far off rhythm of a woodpecker drumming on a tree instantly transports me to my North Woods trail. I’m ready to hit the trail for a day of exploring.”

We have all stood at a trailhead where multiple destinations

diverge. Do you have time for the longest? Or is the shortest

all your dog can handle? The beauty of the situation is that

it’s your choice. After the trail is chosen, heading off to

follow your path can take you to the best steps of the day.

Day Hiking brings out some of the most diverse terrain, as

trails meander from uphill to downhill and through beautiful

scenery. Tubbs Day Hiking snowshoes handle this versatility

perfectly, with the ActiveLift™ 16° heel lift to ease the burden

going uphill, easy-to-enter bindings that stay snug through

all conditions, and the ergonomic benefits of the FitStep™

and FLEX Tail™ designs.

My most memorable step: “My favorite step has to be any step outside my normal comfort zone. We all trudge through the normal routine day after day, almost robotically. I wanted to do something so unlike my normal. The cold has a bite to it but it wakes you up and makes you feel alive. The whiteness of the snow reflecting off everything it touches — nature is amazingly beautiful isn’t it? As I step on to the trail I can’t help but wonder why I didn’t try this sooner? “

find their stride. The ease of following a trail removes the worry

of trying a new activity. The first steps can sometimes be a

mix of the most unsure but also the most prideful, when one

snowshoes that have the perfect amount of traction for those

setting off to follow the beauty of a trail, along with secure

new to snowshoeing to feel comfortable and secure in their

Hi, I’m: Carrie G.My day job: Assistant GM at private country clubPlace I call home: Eagle, CO

My most memorable step: “For my 8 year old daughter and 9 year old son, their favorite steps on a snowy trail are ones imprinted before we even step a foot in the snow — tracks from snowshoe hare, elk, deer, coyote, mice and even moose. Being able to recognize the tracks and see how different animals scurry or navigate the same terrain provides hours of active and even educational entertain-ment. Before they know it, we’ve been out on a 2-3 hour hike in pristine forest, and all of our needs have been met for fun play, physical exertion, and education.“

When energy runs high in the winter with shorter days and

less accessibility to outdoor activities due to inclimate

weather, snowshoeing can provide families a release of

pent-up desire to be outside. These steps can be filled

with excitement over the ability to run in any direction that

seems exciting, requests for snacks, and questions of winter’s

unfamiliar landscape and animal tracks. We updated our

Kids models to be easier for parents and kids to get in and

out of while keeping their mittens on. Because kids deserve

the same ergonomic benefits as adults, our kids’ models are

formed with youth versions of favorite adult technology and

easy-to- use bindings. Kids should be able to run and explore

as long as they like with these comfortable snowshoes.

Designed to make steep ascents easier, the ActiveLift™ heel lift reduces calf fatigue and Achilles tendon strain. It can be easily pulled up and down. The 19° Backcountry heel lift is ideal for extreme steeps, while the 16° Day Hiking version is designed for moderate terrain.

Tubbs was the first company to manufacture women’s-specific snowshoes, and we remain committed with women’s-specific versions of every adult model. Tubbs women’s-specific snowshoes are lighter in weight, feature ergonomically tapered frame shapes for ease of stride, and offer custom fit women’s-specific bindings sized and scaled from a woman’s boot in sizes 5-11.

FRAMES & DECKING

The Pro-Step frame combines a continuous frame bend with longer, lower rise for improved flotation. The lower height nose packs easily, while the tail bend reduces impact on your joints.

The innovative, upturned tail of the aluminum Fit-Step™ frame provides biomechanical benefits, reducing muscular skeletal impact on hip, knee and ankle joints by 10%.*

The ultra-durable 6000 series Western Frame de-sign optimizes flotation and stability in powder snow conditions.

SoftTec decking provides durable, lightweight flotation and has a smooth, soft texture.

FLE

The patented FLEX Tail™ technology allows the snowshoe to roll more naturally from heel to toe. The FLEX Tail absorbs shock from the heel strike, reducing the amount of stress on joints.

FLE

Tubbs’ advanced Torsion Deck™ allows torsional articulation throughout the body of the snowshoe, enhancing traction, biomechanics and comfort on uneven terrain.

FLE

The patent-pending Soft Strike™ zone works with the FLEX Tail to absorb shock and reduce stress on joints and muscles. Soft Strike also aids in weighted traction under the heel.

ARTICULATION SYSTEMS

R2 delivers shock-absorbing lateral flex and quick side slope responsiveness to maintain a natural foot position. Full step rotation sheds snow and allows the toe crampon to bite deeply.

The Rotating Toe Cord design enables the tail of the snowshoe to drop, shedding snow and reducing cardio-respiratory strain by 7%*, while a Rotation Limiter prevents over-rotation.

The Rotating Toe Cord design enables the tail of the snowshoe to drop, shedding snow off the tail. When weighted, the underfoot teeth on the toe traction bite deeply into the snow.

The Fixed Toe Cord pivot system is efficient for flat and rolling terrain with packed snow conditions, and it keeps the snowshoe close to the foot for quick turnover.
