VINTAGE

The 2013 vintage picked up right where the 2012 left off with

another ideal growing season. A warm, dry spring and early

bud break was followed by a long, sunny summer with

consistently moderate temperatures. Dry conditions prevailed

throughout the season due to the absence of any significant

precipitation. Cooperative weather, healthy vines and even

ripening jump started one of the earliest harvests in recent

history resulting in bright, vibrant and balanced Chardonnay.

WINE

Distinct and elegant, Irony Napa Valley Chardonnay offers beautiful

aromas of melon, white peach and lemon with hints of vanilla from

oak aging. The palate is rich and full with flavors of yellow apple and

pear followed by a lingering finish.

Enjoy Irony Chardonnay paired with roast chicken, light cheeses,

pasta in cream sauce and grilled shrimp.

IRONY WINES

Irony wines exemplify careful selection of grapes from prized

vineyards in Monterey and Napa Valley. We crush and ferment

the lots separately and then choose the best for our final blends.

These Small Lot Reserve wines proudly display their impressive

pedigree while offering a reliable, everyday treat for the

discerning wine drinker.

WINEMAKING

Our Chardonnay grapes are picked in the cool, early morning hours

to ensure that the fresh fruit flavor and balanced acidity is captured

at the peak of ripeness. Upon arrival at the winery, the whole grape

clusters are gently pressed. The cool, fresh juice is moved to

stainless steel tanks and allowed to settle overnight. The juice is

then racked to a mix of American and French oak barrels for

fermentation. Following the completion of primary fermentation,

secondary (malolactic) fermentation begins. This process helps to

soften the acidity in the wine as well as enhance the full, creamy

mouth-feel. The barrels are stirred twice a month to integrate the

yeast, further enhancing the textural aspects of the wine. After 6

months of barrel aging, the wine is ready for bottling.

VITICULTURE

The grapes for Irony Chardonnay come from a number of

premium vineyards in the Napa Valley including Oak Knoll

District of Napa Valley, Oakville and Yountville. These

growing regions along the valley floor offer ripe stone fruit

flavors, apple and pear with a touch of minerality. Together,

these vineyards create a beautifully balanced Chardonnay.
