Matt Haesecke enters his third season as headmen’ssoccercoachatLeTourneauUni-versity one season after guiding the Yellow-JacketstothebrinkoftheASCTournamentin2010.

Haesecke’ssecond-yearsquadwent10-8witha7-5recordinASCleagueplay.TheYel-lowJackets,ledbyASCOffensivePlayeroftheYearDillonHoltandAll-ASCgoalieKyleDa-vis,postedan8-1recordathomein2010.

In his first season at the helm at Le-Tourneau,Haesecke’steamtiedaschoolre-cordfortiesinaseasonwithfour.The2009team was resilient throughout the season and foughthardincomingfrombehind.HaeseckecoachedDillonHoltandTreyMcLaughlintoASCFirstandSecondTeamhonors.PatrickThompson,BenStoeckmanandSergioPalaciosgarneredhonorablemen-tionhonors.

Haesecke, who has coached soccer for 12 years, comes to LeTourneau University from Christian Academy of Gua-temala in Guatemala City, Guatemala, where he served as men’ssoccercoachandphysicaleducationinstructorfrom2001-2009.

During his stint as head coach, Haesecke guided theteamtothequarterfinalsoftheCopaEscolar,theNationalTournamentofGuatemala.

Prior to working in Guatemala, Haesecke served as a BibleTeacherandboysandgirlssoccercoachatHeritageChristian School in Milwaukee, Wis., from 1996-2001. He

HaeseckewasamemberoftheAll-CitrusBelt League and Team MVP during his senior year at San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino,Calif., fromwhichhegraduatedin1991.

He attended Texas A&M University for one year before completing his final threeyearsofcollegeatMoodyBible Institute inChicago,Ill.,graduatingin1995.

While atMoody Bible Institute, hewasa two-time All-District member and anNCCAAAll-Americanselectionin1994whenthe team won the NCCAA National Cham-pionship.A two-timecaptainatMoodyand

amemberof theNCCAAAll-TournamentTeam,HaeseckegraduatedwithaBachelorofArtsDegreeinChristianEdu-cation.

CoachHaesecke isthebrotherofSethHaesecke,whowas a four-year letterwinner with the YellowJackets from1997 to2000.Seth ranksfifthon theall-timeLeTourneauscoringlistwith41goals,andasof2010,istheschool’sall-timeNCAA-eraleaderingoalswith39.

MattHaeseckeearnedhismaster’sdegreeinCurriculumandInstructionfromtheUniversityofWisconsin-Whitewa-terin2001.HeholdsaNational“B”licensefromtheUnitedStatesSoccerFederation.

MattandhiswifeRebecca live inLongviewwith theirthreechildren:Leorah,9,Brayden,5,andLogan,4.

JamesWright,oneofthemostdec-orated players in LeTourneau Univer-sitymen’ssoccerhistory,returnsforhisninth season as an assistant coach for theYellowJackets.

AnativeofGrimsby,England,Wrightwasafour-yearstarterandteamcaptainfor the YellowJackets and earned nu-merous postseason awards, including NCCAAandNAIAAll-Americanhonors.

Wright was voted to the National Soccer CoachesAthletic Association (NSCAA) All-America first team as asenior. His 86 career game’s played still ranks fourth onLeTourneau’sall-timelist.

He also coaches for the LongviewHigh School boysteamwherehewasnamedthe2006DistrictCoachoftheYear.

Alex Reyes joins the LeTourneau men’ssoccerprogramasagraduateas-sistantforthe2011-12season.

Reyes comes to the YellowJackets from Northwestern College in Minneso-ta,wherehewasa four-year letterwin-neron theschool’smen’s soccer team.Hewasnamedhisteam’sMostValuablePlayerin2007and2009.

Reyes graduated from Northwestern Collegein2010withaBachelorofSciencedegreeinMar-keting.

The addition of Reyes reunites him with head coach MattHaesecke,whowasReyes’highschoolcoachattheChristianAcademyofGuatemalainGuatemalaCity.

AlexReyes’ youngerbrotherEric is amemberof theLeTourneaumen’ssoccerteam.
