Yes, you've heard right...there are some changes to the festival this year. Quite frankly, lack of funding has required us to make some changes in order to keep the the festival alive.

And while things will be different, we promise, you will definitely NOT be disappointed!

One thing we won't have is the Hunter Tasting Tent BUT Riverfront Cafe has stepped up and

will give you an amazing Ice Bar Experience on their patio...complete with Ice Drink Luges :D

And we won't have NICA Competitions this year, BUT on Saturday starting around 9am, your favorite carvers will be back… for the 7th year, Dan Rebholz from Chicago, for the 5th year Jeff Stahl from Goodfield IL,

for the 4th year Aaric Kendall from Argenta IL, and also for the 4th year, Buddy Rasmussen from San Antonio TX, lastly, new to the festival this year, we are thrilled to welcome Reverend Butter from Houston TX competing against each other

and transforming 5 blocks of ice into Art for the People's Choice Competition and a $500 Prize. Vote for your favorite at any downtown business…voting ends at 2pm on Sunday.

Last, we won't have Fire & Ice, BUT Saturday Nights alright for fighting and straight from TEXAS,

we'll have, Team Texas Ice Fights at the Riverfront Amphitheater!

We have been also been blessed and will have Ice Brigade a.k.a Derek Maxfield & Randy Finch in town building for the festival a Working Ice Carousel!!

They'll be here with their production crew filming for their upcoming new The Food Network series ...how exciting is that!

Another exciting addition this year is the ICE RINK!!! Whoo Hoo~ the 100' x 100' rink has been moved from Eastside Park to Riverfront Park between Ridge Kramer & Wonderland!! It looks like the weather will cooperate and they should have good ice by

festival time. It's getting bbbrrrrr-cold, so if you go by while they are working on it, bring them some coffee or hot chocolate to keep them warm... and at festival time, bring your skates and have some fun :D *they do have some skates available to borrow.

Since we don't have the tent, we'll be changing up the way we do the Chili Cook-off ...you've heard of Pub Crawls, right?

This year the Cook-off will be in the form of a Downtown Cook-off Chili Crawl. Competitors will be located at businesses along Main Street.

Tickets for Tasting are $5 and will allow you to taste all entries plus 5 extra tastes & will give you one vote. You can buy tickets at the Hunter Ice Cream Booth, the YMCA Welcome Center and the Family Friendly Foods building.

Things that aren't changing are Hunter Ice Cream... you can still buy it by the scoop for $1 at the Ice

ice cream bar-located in the south side 100 block of Main, and you can take some home for later… we'll have Pre-Packaged Quarts available for $10!

We’re also excited to again be partnering with the Four Flags Players and their Murder Mystery Dinner Theater.

This year, they will be performing a play written especially for this occasion- The Swanson by Jessica Puller - and the event will be held inside at the Bell Building. Tickets are $30 each. Please call 269-695-1150 for reservations, or go to

www.nilesmainstreet.org and click in the Hunter Ice Festival logo to be taken to our PayPal link (hosted by www.trailheadmercantile.com) to buy your tickets.

Dinner will be served Buffet Style and will feature foods from 16+ local restaurants.

Plus, if we have snow, we'll have sledding at Riverfront Park, and even with no snow, they'll have kids activities near the Amphitheater.

All in all, while it will be different, it will still be great!! So if you are around, come on down…

We’d love to see you!
