2011 EOC Geometry Assessment(Field Test)

Procedural Training

OPERATIONAL EOC & FIELD TESTING EOC Assessments will be administered both online

and via a paper-based administration. HB 3, passed in 2009, authorizes TEA to collect

data through the administration of EOCs in order to establish performance standards prior to the first high-stakes administrations in spring 2012.

EOC Assessments measure a student’s mastery of statewide curriculum, the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills)

VMA selected to participate in the following: English I - April 6 & 7, 2011 - paper administration

Day 1 - Writing Day 2 - Reading

Physics - May 11, 2011 - paper administration Geometry - May 24, 2011 - online administration

ELIGIBILITY FOR EOC ASSESSMENTS Online - maximum number of

students required to test - 350 Paper - all eligible students

enrolled in the course are required to test

Special Education. - all students who take the TAKS

Oral administration is not available for the English I EOC

Oral administration is available for Geometry and Physics

Students with accommodations that would invalidate the assessment are not required to participate

ARD committees are not required to convene to determine test placement at this time

LEP - all students except first-year immigrants granted an exit level LEP postponement or LEP exemption from the 2011 spring TAKS

EOC RESULTS*There will be no “student results” because the passing standards have not been set.

Districts will receive raw scores only, and not by individual

student.

*No performance results for students, campuses, districts,

or the state will be provided for any EOC assessment.

Occasionally a student may need to leave for a brief time. No testing

material may be taken from the testing room. If student returns, the Campus Testing Coordinator, and test administrator involved will determine

whether confidentiality has been maintained and if the student should

continue testing. If the student cannot continue testing, campus & district

administration will determine whether the student’s answer document should

be coded “S” score, or “O” other.

SCHOOL EMERGENCIES

If a campus emergency takes place (example - Fire Alarm) you will leave

the tests where they are and go quietly outside, following campus procedures

for exiting the building. The safety of you and the students are a

priority. The test administrator and all other personnel MUST closely

monitor their testing groups to make sure that no one discusses the test. The student should resume testing

once the building has been cleared for reentry.
