SCSC OverviewMission:

Sugar Creek Swim Club’s competitive swimming program promotes a healthy lifestyle and provides the youth and families of Montgomery and surrounding counties with a positive outlet for children’s enthusiasm in a team environment. The sport of swimming offers youngsters an opportunity to enhance their physical, mental and emotional development and challenges them to strive for continuous personal improvement in and out of the water.

Goals:

Our program is designed to promote the long-term development of each athlete by challenging him or her to strive for individual improvement and personal excellence in a fun, supportive and committed team atmosphere.

Financial Policies A CAC Pool Pass is paid for by SCSC.  If

you are interested in a family pass, this discount applies.

If swimmer leaves SCSC, pass is rescinded.

Outstanding balances are due within 30 days of statement.

If unable to pay within allotted time, please contact the treasurer.

Financial Policies

If there remains a balance greater than $100 on an account, then that swimmer will not be permitted to register for the new season.

Arrangements satisfactory to the Club and to the family can be made between the treasurer and the family.

Families with balances greater than $200 per swimmer will not be permitted to enter swimmers into meets.

Again, a payment plan can be put into effect that would allow a swimmer to continue.

Cash entry fees must be paid in advance.

Why are our fees so low?

Volunteering Over the years, SCSC has addressed

volunteering in several different ways. So far, there hasn’t been a policy to

please everyone.There still isn’t!

The current policy: PLEASE help! We need you. There are no fines or penalties for not

volunteering.

• We need help at every meet --- lots of it!

• These are the positions we have to fill for every session of every meet.

• The need for the position to be filled does not go away if your child is not swimming.

If you don’t do your fair share, another family has to do their own plus yours.

Bottom Line We have roughly

750 volunteer positions to fill for our 5 home meets.

We have 70 swim families.

Your family’s share is about 11 volunteer sessions. That’s roughly 2 sessions per meet.

Reducing Volunteer Needs

Belonging to SCSC requires a lot more than does signing your child up for Little League.

We could reduce the number of necessary volunteers by Hiring timers Not hosting meets

Which brings us right to the financial side…

Hiring Timers

In other words, it would cost about $75 per family to hire timers for our regular home meets (not the conference meet).

We have hired groups to time for us in the past.

It costs about $300 per session to hire timers.

The 4 non-CISC home meets have a total of 18 sessions.

Hiring timers for all sessions of these 4 meets would cost $5,400.

SCSC vs. Other Clubs Our dues are lower

than other clubs because we generate a lot of revenue from hosting meets.

Slightly more than 1/3 of our income comes from member dues!

This means we need a lot of volunteer hours from our members.

A Tale of Two Meets

A Tale of Two MeetsOn the one hand-Senior State was a huge success!

Coaches, officials, and representatives from Indiana Swimming raved about the meet.

There were no significant problems.

SCSC made about $17,000 from hosting the meet. That’s $250 per SCSC family!

A Tale of Two MeetsOn the other hand-

Senior State did NOT go very well:

Far less than half of our members volunteered any time at all.

Despite repeated pleas from the president, we were desperately short of volunteers . On the Wednesday before the meet started, I was knocking on Wabash fraternity doors trying to get help.
