105˚C Tri-rated Switchgear &Control Panel Wires

ApplicationFlexible Tri-rated hook up wires Type PW01 have beenspecifically designed for use in the switch, control, relay andinstrumentation panels of power circuits and for purposessuch as internal connectors in rectifier equipment, motorstarters and controllers.

By combining three national standards in one product, PW01is suitable for equipment installations required to meet bothEuropean and North American wiring regulations and codesof practice. This facilitates design, simplifies purchasing and cuts inventory costs.

Technical DataTemperature range: Recognised by UL and CSA as heat-resisting with a maximum conductor operating temperatureof 105˚C.

NOTE: BS 6231 specifies a maximum conductor operating temperature of 90˚C for continuous use.Under certain conditions these cables can be operated at up to 105˚C, ‘annex a’ of BS 6231 gives full details.

PW01 has good low temperature flexibility, meeting cold bend tests down to -30˚C.

Maximum working voltage: UL, CSA 600V r.m.s.

BS 6231 (Uo/U) 600/1000V r.m.s

Oil resistance: PW01 is recognised by UL and CSA asresistant to oil at temperatures up to 60˚C.

Spread of flame: VW-1, FT-1, BS 4066 : Part 1, EN 50265and IEC 60332-1.

Applicable standards:

1. Underwriters Laboratory Listed. Conforms toSubject 758 Appliance Wiring Material for Styles1015, 1028, 1283 and 1284 as applicable. UL FileNo E54385.

2. Canadian Standards Association approved.Complies with Standard C22.2, No.127, Type TEW. CSA File No. LL43273.

3. British Standards. Manufactured to BS 6231Type CK.

Construction1 Flexible plain annealed copper wire conductor

to BS 6360 (Class 5).

2 Plasticised PVC insulation specially formulated tocombine excellent electrical performance with robustmechanical properties, yet still complying with UL, CSAand BS tests for spread of flame on a single vertical cable.

The current ratings tabulated left are based onsingle cables in free air, amaximum conductortemperature of 105˚C andan ambient temperature of 45˚C.The volts drop tabulatedabove are for single cablesonly. For circuits of singlephase 50Hz a.c. or twowire d.c. the figures shownshould be multiplied by 2and for three phase 50Hza.c. multiplied by 1.732.NOTE: The temperaturerise in a conductor dueto current flow should belimited to 40˚C.

Sizes and colours notindicated left can bemanufactured tospecial order.Sizes over 120mm2 are bi-rated to UL & BS 6231. The CSA standard does notcover sizes above 120mm2. Alternatives to the standardcable can also be suppliede.g., tinned copperconductors, solid conductors(Class 1) or semi-rigidconductors (Class 2).
