How far we’ve come
Nina’s personal
property in South Knox
County
2000 – 2003 Quarantine at the Humane Society of Tennessee Valley in South Knoxville
2002 – 2006Donated property
in South Knox County
Plenty of “Manual Labor”
required
No Water or Electric
available on the property
During the first 5 years we had the pleasure of helping 160 horses and met many unforgettable ones, each with their own story.
Some had happy outcomes, and others, not so happy.
A few of those were…
Abby rescued from auction
Abby Today
Buck
Rescued from a 3’
tall chicken
coop
Special Braces
His feet now
Buck’s House
“Ebony”Blind and bound for
slaughter for human consumption
From Slaughter Truck to
Show Ring
“Sadie”Her water
source was the family swimming
pool
“Sadie” Amazing what a little
food and clean water
can do!
“Miracle”She was only with us two weeks, but
the imprint she made on our hearts
will never be forgotten.
MIRACLE
In 2006 big things started happening for
HHT.We moved to a donated private facility in West
Knoxville.
Modern equipment was donated and purchased to help our volunteers do
their tasks in a safe, efficient manner.
Volunteers become the heart of HHT
Our new public facility opened up
many opportunities for HHT!
HHT shares our success.
$760 donated to Anderson Sling!
$250 donated to a water tank for
STAR
2008HHT started our
Emergency Rescue Fund after being faced with some difficult rescues.
“Angel”In 93 degree
weather, it took three people 2 ½ hours to get her
loaded because we didn’t have adequate
resources.
“Wonder”Blind and abandoned
on a mountain, too weak to walk herself
onto the trailer.
HHT receives Rescue Training
“Rescue Glide” our first piece of equipment.
Even with all the bad, God never
gave us more than we could handle.
“Brave Warrior”Dragged behind a pick-up truck.
“Brave Warrior” after the wounds healed.
“Rainaway” great grandson of Secretariat
Now a celebrity at Secretariat’sbirth place in
Virginia
He sure had the last laugh!
Old or Young
We’ve cared for them all
January 2009
brings HHT the biggest
challenge yet.
We had our work cut out for us.
Once again Volunteers dig in to help the horses.
“Birdie”Pregnant mare,
hit by a car, comes to us
for care.
Volunteers once again step up to help this
horse who required us to help her defecate. For
three weeks she received love and care before
passing over the rainbow bridge.
Some came with babies, while others
delivered here.
